Welcome to this fireside meditation. As the world outside grows colder and quieter, this practice invites you to come inward, to the stillness, the softness, and the quiet glow within. Imagine sitting beside a gentle fire, its amber light flickering and dancing across the walls, its warmth wrapping around you like a soft blanket. This is a time to rest deeply. To let go of the day’s chill, the tension in your body, and the thoughts that may still be flickering in your mind. As you breathe, you’ll be guided into a state of cosy presence, where every exhale releases, and every inhale draws in warmth and ease. Let this be your invitation to slow down. To feel safe, grounded, and held by the quiet crackle of the fire. Together, we’ll rest in the comfort of stillness, and rediscover the quiet peace that winter offers to those who pause and listen. So find a comfortable position, perhaps wrapped in something warm, and when you’re ready, let’s begin. Music by Naturesye

Close your eyes.

Begin by simply noticing your breath,

In and out.

With each exhale,

Feel a little more release in your body.

With each inhale,

Draw in warmth,

Calm and presence.

Let yourself arrive here,

Fully,

Without hurrying.

Now,

Imagine yourself sitting by a fire,

It is quiet,

Safe and welcoming.

Notice the way the flames rise and fall,

Curling and twisting in shapes that are never quite the same twice.

Watch them move,

With gentle unpredictability,

Like thoughts,

Drifting in and out of your awareness.

Let your mind simply observe,

Without needing to shape or direct.

Hear the fire,

A soft crackle,

An occasional pop,

As sparks leap into the air.

Let your ears rest in this sound.

Feel the warmth reaching your skin,

Spreading slowly across your hands,

Your face,

Your chest.

Let it sink into your shoulders,

Your back,

Every corner of your body that might be holding tension.

You do not need to do anything right now,

Except be here,

In the glow.

Notice the light,

It dances,

Golden and soft,

Flickering across walls and objects around you.

Watch how shadows stretch and shrink,

Creating patterns that are alive and always changing.

Allow your attention to follow them,

Letting them remind you that life itself moves in a gentle endless rhythm.

Bring your awareness to your body again.

Feel the weight of yourself in the chair,

Or on the floor,

Or wherever you are resting.

Notice the support beneath you,

And let your muscles soften,

Feel your spine lengthen,

Your shoulders drop.

With every exhale,

Release tension.

With every inhale,

Invite warmth,

Calm and comfort.

Now expand your awareness outward.

Imagine the warmth of the fire filling the room,

Reaching every corner.

Let it touch objects,

Walls,

Air and light.

Feel it extend beyond the room,

Beyond the walls,

Into the spaces you carry inside,

Your thoughts,

Your memories,

Your heart.

Let this warmth remind you that safety and comfort exist not only outside,

But also within.

Take a moment to notice gratitude arising.

Gratitude for this fire,

For this warmth,

For this pause in your day.

Gratitude for your breath,

Your body,

Your ability to rest.

Let this feeling spread like light within you,

Settling gently into your heart.

As the fire continues to glow,

Notice the rhythm of your own presence,

Steady,

Soft,

Alive.

Let the warmth and light remind you that even small,

Quiet things carry power.

Even small moments of stillness can illuminate the darkness.

You too carry this quiet,

Steady light inside you.

Sit with this for a few more breaths,

In and out,

Letting the glow of the fire mingle with the glow of your own being.

Let your body feel held,

Let your mind feel calm,

Let your heart feel open.

When you are ready,

Slowly bring your awareness back to the present moment.

Notice the room around you,

The surface beneath you,

The sands near you.

Carry the warmth,

The light and the gentle gratitude with you as you move through the rest of your day,

Knowing it remains inside you,

Steady and luminous.

And take one final,

Deep,

Nourishing breath in,

And on the out breath,

Let go,

And when it feels right,

Open your eyes,

Carrying this fireside peace with you as you go.
