We'll begin our practice by finding a comfortable seat.

And when you're ready,

Close your eyes.

For the next five minutes,

You have nowhere to go,

No one to be,

And nothing to do,

But follow the flow of your breath.

Let's take three deep breaths.

One,

Two,

Three.

One,

Two,

Three.

One,

Two,

Three.

One,

Two,

Three.

Let's take three deep nourishing breaths,

In through the nose and out through the mouth.

Inhale,

Inspiration.

Exhale,

Tension.

Inhale,

Discovery.

Inhale,

Discovery.

Exhale,

Self-doubt.

Inhale,

Flow.

Exhale,

Fear.

Exhale,

Self-doubt.

Notice any shifts in your body.

How does it feel to be you right now?

How's your heart today?

Allow all of you to be welcome here.

Give yourself permission to just breathe.

Direct your attention to your breath,

And breathe naturally into the silence,

In and out through your nose.

When thoughts arise,

Acknowledge them,

But then allow them to pass through you in a way like leaves in a fast flowing stream.

Return to the breath,

In and out through your nose.

Your breath,

Like flow,

Is always available to you.

Drop in,

Let go,

Breathe.

When you hear the bell,

Set an intention.

How do you want to show up for your writing today?

Follow the wave of sound into your writing practice.

Bell rings.

Bell rings.

Very helpful as I prepare to sit down for the day's writing in my doctoral program. Though not a huge issue, it would have been nice to know that this was to directly transition into writing; I typically do my practice slightly apart from my desk, but I happened to be much closer than usual today. (The Universe knows such things....) Regardless of that, this practice is simple enough that it can be done easily under a variety of circumstances, so I very much appreciate this practice - even if its original intent was for creative writing. 😊 I definitely feel inspired, like there's a ROAR right around the corner! 🌄 📝 💻 💪🏻💗 Thank you for sharing this with us here. I see you and the light within you. Be well. 🤲🏻❤🤲🏻

I appreciate the five-minute length of this meditation. I was quickly able to become relaxed as well as let go of all that is not writing and inspiration. I needed to hear the “you have nowhere to go and no one to be” sentiment. Thank you.
