Mindfulness for Type 1 Diabetes

Kelsey Dietrich is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator with additional certifications in trauma-sensitive mindfulness and meditation. She earned her BA in Psychology and English from Bowling Green State University in 2021 and MA in Psychological Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2024. Currently, Kelsey is a doctoral student studying clinical health psychology at East Carolina University. Since 2019, Kelsey has been involved as a research assistant studying mindfulness and yoga. In 2024, she published "Mindfulness for Type 1 Diabetes: 21 practices to support you through the literal and figural highs and lows of T1D" which aims serves as an accessible guide to integrate mindfulness into daily life with type 1 diabetes. Each practice also includes a background summary of research, potential contexts to use the practice, and reflection prompts to promote self-awareness and empowerment to deepen your mindfulness practice and enhance the quality of your T1D journey. Through her unique and ongoing learning about mind-body practices from the intersection of art, science, and practice, Kelsey values creating accessible spaces for all who want to utilize these strategies for wellbeing.
