Welcome back to our final class for our first aid kit.
My name is Melissa Kleehammer,
And I'm excited to make our final blend.
It's an after sun spray,
Which doubles for scrapes.
So tonight you need a few things.
You need tea tree.
Lavender,
Black pepper essential oils,
I'm working with a two ounce spray bottle.
We need aloe vera gel and soluble.
And distilled water.
So a few different things.
So as we add each oil,
I'll talk about why we're using the oil.
So we're going to start with tea tree.
We're going to add eight drops.
And if you remember back from our cold and flu inhaler,
We use Tea Tree.
Because it helps to calm the histamine reaction.
So.
.
.
Which is redness and puffiness and irritation.
So whether we've got a sunburn,
We're just exhausted from being in the sun,
Or we've scraped our skin.
The tea tree helps to soothe the redness and calm that irritation.
Okay.
Next is the lavender,
And I'm using 8 of 10.
Eight of each.
I'm sorry,
I don't know if I said that.
Eight of each.
So if you remember,
Lavender.
We talked about or I talked about how lavender consists mainly of these two components called linalool and linalool acetate.
These are the scientific.
Names and reasons why.
Lavender is such a great oil and such a healing oil.
So the component linalool is what makes lavender very calming,
Gentle,
And soothing for the skin.
The linoleic acetate is what makes lavender more of a sedative,
A pain reliever,
And anti-inflammatory oil.
So another reason why we would use that for sunburn,
Sun exhaustion,
And scrapes on the skin.
And then lastly,
The essential oil of black pepper.
We're using eight as well.
It's a little slow.
So it has a lot of the same properties as the other two oils.
Relief,
Anti-inflammatory,
Antimicrobial,
It soothes aches,
So it's just another piece of the puzzle to help reduce the puffiness,
Soothe the irritation and the pain that comes with scraping our skin or that comes with the sunburn.
So.
Now we're going to use soluble if you have it.
You don't need it,
But it is helpful.
So.
We've used about 24 drops.
So when we multiply that by four,
It's too many drops to want to use the dropper.
So I've done the conversion and it's about four and a half milliliters.
So I've got my little measured beaker here.
I'm going to find four.
And a half milliliters,
Kind of mark it with my thumb.
The lines are very faint.
And I'm gonna,
It's perfect,
Okay.
Cap it if you are using.
And then I'm going to add that.
And then give it a good shake.
So again,
I'm using a two ounce bottle.
So now I'm going to add an ounce of aloe vera gel.
If you are using a one ounce bottle,
You want a half an ounce.
So half an ounce is 15 milliliters.
So I'm gonna find that on here.
Oh,
Sorry,
So I'm doing 30 mils,
But if you're using a smaller bottle,
You would do.
.
.
15.
So I'm adding to a two ounce bottle.
One ounce of aloe vera gel.
And then one ounce of distilled water,
Which I've pre-poured.
I'm going to,
Though,
Find my one ounce or 30 mils.
All right,
Let's hope I don't overflow it.
So now this is a blend.
I would keep this in the fridge.
Because if you're,
You know,
If you're,
Especially if you're using it for sunburn or sun exhaustion,
That extra cooling relief will be great for,
Um,
For that added relief.
Um,
And I would think it would be nice for the scrapes as well.
That extra cooling.
So let's see.
I'm going to put sun.
And I'm just gonna know that.
That's what that means.
If you have masking tape or a bigger label,
You can certainly write sun and scrapes or something like that.
And I'm going to put it.
I'm gonna put it on the,
On the.
.
.
Kind of the part of the sprayer instead of the bottle itself.
OK.
And then put those to the side.
So this is our after sun spray and our scrape spray.
I would say,
If you're using it for scrapes,
Clean the area first.
With water.
And then use your spray.
So we have made,
I've got everything lined up here,
We have made a pain relief roller.
We've made bug spray.
We've made an itchy relief roller that doubles for burns.
We've made a bruise roller.
A cold and flu inhaler.
In an allergy inhaler specifically for mucus.
And then our sun spray and scrape spray.
It's a lot of different things,
But you know.
Each holds.
.
.
Necessity for different things that happen in our lives.
So now you have to find a place for these blends,
These bottles to live.
I hope you find.
And have found this series helpful.
I really appreciate your time.
Being here with me.
I really appreciate the money you have to spend in order to purchase these supplies and these ingredients.
I understand very much and know that I don't take your spending that money and that investment lightly.
Thank you so much for joining me on this series.
