Welcome back.
My name is Melissa Kleehammer,
And this is class three of our First Aid Kit series.
Today we're making an itch relief roller that doubles for small burns.
You need lavender and peppermint essential oils,
Which are oils that I'm going to carry through for several of our other blends for the first aid kit to try to make this as economical and simple as possible.
You also need aloe vera gel.
This is something.
That I've purchased recently and I'm really enjoying keeping it in the fridge for optimal freshness.
And then I had mentioned it in our last class was soluble.
Because aloe vera gel is considered more of a water-based.
Using a soluble helps to really disperse the essential oils more efficiently and effectively.
So while it's not absolutely necessary,
It is nice to have if you have the extra money to invest in it.
And today I'm using a 10 milliliter roller bottle,
Okay?
So really simple for the essential oils.
We're only doing three of each.
So uncap that peppermint.
Or the lavender,
Whichever,
And take your three drops.
So we're using lavender because it's such a gentle anti-inflammatory for the skin.
And we're using peppermint because of its menthol component,
Which is very cooling for the skin.
Which of course we need.
Both of those.
When we're feeling the itchiness of a bug bite or we need that cooling relief from a burn.
OK,
So oils are capped.
Now,
If you are choosing to use the soluble,
We use four times the amount of essential oils.
So we use six drops of essential oil.
So six times four is 24.
I've got this dropper.
I'm going right in.
And excuse the silence while I count out 24 drops.
Okay,
I'm just kind of getting the rest in the bottle here.
Now,
You don't have to do it,
But it's nice if you use the soluble to mix it up first before you add in the base.
I didn't do that in the previous class for our bug spray just because it was a non-see-through bottle and I needed to be careful with that.
But this one,
I know that my hands are clean.
I just washed them.
So mix that up.
Now we top it with aloe vera gel,
And I'm topping it to this lower lip.
So that when I put the roller in,
It won't spill out.
And of course,
You could use,
If you have like a nice cylinder with a pour spout,
Absolutely use that.
I'm just going to go for it.
Now,
Cap.
I always keep a little rag handy.
So I wipe off.
Any excess that might have dripped down.
And then any around the bottle here.
And then You're taking your roller top.
That one really needed to push it in,
And then.
Cap it.
And then what's this?
This is for bug bites,
For itch relief.
So however you want to write your label,
Whether it's bugs or itch or itchy,
Your choice how and where you want your label.
And I store mine upright,
So I like it on the top.
Sew.
The aloe vera gel,
Very soothing,
Very cooling.
This is extra soothing and cooling if you keep this in the fridge.
You don't have to because the oils that we use that are in this bottle provide that cooling and that relief without refrigeration.
So it's up to you if you want to carry it in your purse.
If you're going out for a hike,
Have it with you in the backpack or in your pocket.
But if you're home and coming back home from the hike,
It's great to keep this in the fridge.
Completely up to you.
Um So that's it for our itch relief,
But also burn relief roller.
I hope you enjoy using this,
Even though I want you to have to only use it sparingly.
So thank you for being here.
Our next class,
We are making a bruise roller,
Or rather,
Bruise soothe,
However you want to word it.
And we're going to carry forward our lavender oil.
So thank you for joining me.
Again,
My name is Melissa Kleehammer.
I'll see you next time.
