Hello,
My name is Melissa and I will be channeling some Reiki energy for this meditation practice today.
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing.
Its name comes from the Japanese words rei meaning universal and ki meaning life energy.
It's based on this notion that all living things have energy fields or life forces that cannot be seen but are essential to our life.
According to this practice physical,
Mental,
And emotional issues that can occur in our lives can cause these energy centers to become weakened or blocked and the purpose of Reiki is to promote good health by balancing these energy fields.
You may find that it reduces your pain or anxiety.
Reiki can improve your moods and sense of overall well-being and it might even help with depression.
Like many other spiritual practices,
Reiki is based on a set of principles or rules.
By focusing on the present moment they offer guidance for connecting with your own Reiki energy which can help boost your own sense of well-being in many various ways.
So allow yourself to settle into a position that is comfortable.
Let your eyes close or drop your gaze down so that you can tap into the energy within you right now and just notice how you're feeling mentally,
Notice how you're feeling physically,
And notice how you feel emotionally.
So what are the Reiki principles?
Well there are five basic principles that all reflect the notion that we focus on is right now for today.
The first principle being just for today I will release angry thoughts.
So we know it's normal to feel angry sometimes.
This emotion can be triggered by many life scenarios,
Getting cut off in traffic or having to deal with a rude person.
While it's healthy to feel anger sometimes,
The problem occurs when you hold on to your angry thoughts and let them fester over time.
This first principle of Reiki reminds us that we are capable of controlling our emotions.
We are capable of controlling our thoughts even if we are unable to control what happens to us.
Anger is an all-consuming emotion that can take over your life.
The goal is to learn how your emotions affect you.
Recognize the anger,
Notice how it feels in your body,
Be aware of the stories that are attached to the emotion,
Own it,
And then without suppressing it,
Let the emotion go.
When you learn to do this,
You are allowing yourself to make space to invite happiness into your life.
So just for today,
I release all angry thoughts.
The second principle,
Just for today,
I release thoughts of worry.
Many of us worry about things that haven't happened yet.
Worry prevents you from enjoying the present moment.
Worry will steal your joy and replace it with anxiety and fear.
Reiki invites you to release your worries so that you can live in this present moment.
It is a practice of surrender,
Appreciating and accepting all that you have right now.
This can be difficult to do at first,
Which is why Reiki reminds us to do it just for today.
This will encourage us to continue to build on this practice so that it will become easier over time.
Just for today,
I will release thoughts of worry.
The third principle focuses on gratitude.
Just for today,
I will be grateful.
And this is just a reminder to express gratitude for all that you have and all that you are.
It can seem easy to be grateful when everything is going our way.
And this practice reminds us that even when we are being challenged,
There is always something in life to be grateful for.
We can be grateful for our breath,
Our loved ones,
Our homes,
Food in our bellies.
When you can consider the things that you have to be thankful for,
You recognize the good in your life and it can create an abundant flow of energy that supports and enhances your life.
So just for today,
I will be grateful for everything.
The fourth principle is just for today,
I will do my work honestly.
This principle encourages you to bring your whole self to your work.
Whatever we do,
We do our best and we give it our all.
By working honestly,
It allows us to treat others the same way we would like to be treated.
The energy that we bring into whatever we are doing will be magnified.
So just for today,
I will do my work honestly.
The fifth and final principle is just for today,
I will be kind to all living beings.
This principle focuses on being kind to others and to ourselves.
When we practice being kind,
We become happier people.
Being kind makes it easier to be gentle and extend forgiveness.
We should do our best to protect,
Not harm,
And focus living our life through love and kindness.
Just for today,
I will be kind to all living things.
Together,
Let's affirm.
Just for today,
I will release angry thoughts.
Just for today,
I will release all thoughts of worry.
Just for today,
I will be grateful.
Just for today,
I will do my work honestly.
And just for today,
I will practice kindness to all living things.
Allow the energy of these affirmations to wash over you and settle into you.
Connect with the sensations in your body.
Notice what it is that you notice.
Take a deep breath in and sigh it out.
Take an even deeper breath in and then let that out with a big sigh.
Begin to welcome in some gentle movements.
Bring your awareness to the space around you as you gently open your eyes,
Noticing what you can see,
Smell,
Hear around you.
Thank you for allowing me to connect you with this Reiki energy.
May the healing energy travel to wherever you need it most.
I thank you for exchanging your energy with me.
May you have a balanced day that is free from anger and worry,
Filled with gratitude,
Honesty,
And kindness.
Namaste.
