It's bedtime now time to snuggle into bed and let your eyes softly close Let's take three deep breaths together ready?
Good.
Notice how warm and safe and comfortable you feel.
Keeping your eyes closed allow your mind to travel with the sound of my voice.
Beneath you your bed has transformed and you find yourself lying way up high on a rocky snow covered mountain top.
As you lie in your perch you feel that you should be cold given the snow all around you and the freezing temperatures.
But you are quite warm in your fur coat with your long luxurious tail wrapped around you like a blanket.
You decide to get to your feet and have a look around.
The panoramic views from this height are spectacular.
You can see far and wide.
You take in the landscape all around you.
The white capped mountains almost blue in the shade.
The sparsely growing trees shrubs and grasses.
The yellows,
Greys and greens of lichen and moss growing on the rocks.
The sky is the purest of blue with a few scant fluffy white clouds.
The air is thin and clear at this altitude.
Being a crepuscular animal you are most active at dawn and dusk and as the sun begins showing its first signs of making its descent you have been watching the mountains around you in search of a meal.
You can eat more than twice your body weight in one sitting and your favorite foods are blue sheep and ebex although you also enjoy marmots,
Hares and game birds.
Hunting is like a roller coaster ride with steep declines and huge leaps.
Fortunately your strong back limbs,
Shorter front limbs and muscular barrel chest equip you for this difficult task.
And your long tail aids you by helping to keep you balanced on the precarious cliffs.
In order to get enough oxygen at these heights you also have enlarged nostrils and nasal passages as well as a high red blood count to keep you running.
Just there to the left you see long grayish legs and a short black tail.
The hindquarters of a blue sheep as it descends down the mountainside.
You slowly stalk out of your resting spot,
The thick fur on your paws muffling the sound of each footstep.
You're getting closer now and you ready your body to pounce.
Just then the sheep feels your presence and the chase is on.
You hardly look at the ground as you swiftly and steadfastly pursue the sheep.
You hear the clop of his hoofs on the rocks.
You see his large horns bobbing along as he runs.
He has managed this time to outrun you,
Taking a sharp turn as you made your biggest leap.
You left the whole size of a school bus and the sensation was exhilarating but unfortunately the sheep got away.
All of this running,
Leaping,
Falling and bounding has made you quite tired.
So you make your way back to your favorite sleeping spot with the amazing view.
You lie down on the hard rock and wrap your tail around you.
You are completely camouflaged by your thick light gray fur with darker gray circles.
The dark line of fur running along your spine continues the length of your thick tail.
You are practically invisible which is why your kind are sometimes called mountain ghosts.
You start to feel a deep sense of relaxation come over you from the tip of your large nostrils through your furry face,
Down your body,
Front and hind limbs,
And enormous paws and all the way down your bushy tail.
You let your eyelids become heavy and you gently let them close.
Your breathing becomes deep and soft and effortless.
You are completely comfortable lying on the mountainside.
You breathe in the smell of the air and the earth.
The muscles in your body release and you feel fully supported by the ground beneath you.
You are completely relaxed and you let yourself drift off to sleep.
Good night little snow leopard.
