
Seeing Life Clearly

Let Lou guide you through a mind expanding meditation, helping you to raise your general awareness and gain clarity on what it is that you most deeply desire. Allow yourself to embrace a perception shift, without judgement or expectation, instead with great curiosity and openness. This practice will help you shed unneccesary thoughts and bring light to a path of attaining greater contentment.
Transcript
Let's find our comfortable seat.
Bring the eyes down to close.
Begin to rest the lower jaw away from the upper jaw.
Relax the muscles around the eyes,
Around the face.
Find a broadening through the chest and a lengthening through the side body and the sides of the neck.
And then just allow the weight of your body to find gravity and sink into your chair or to your cushion.
Letting the shoulders strip down the back.
Letting your hands soften and the weight begin to release.
And to find our anchor point.
Begin to notice our breath.
Let's see if we can just put our attention on the space that is in between the breath.
So we notice as we breathe in,
Just before the exhale there's this little bit of space,
Almost like a suspension.
Notice that and then on your exhale afterwards when the air is fully released out of the body,
Notice that space that's created.
And see if you can just find a rhythm in your breathing.
Allowing the cool air to move in through your nose.
And letting all of the air that's been trapped inside move back out.
Feeling an expansive nature,
An expansive quality on each inhale.
And further allowing yourself to ground and release on your exhale.
Today's meditation is about allowing ourselves to see a new way.
So the basis of really every spiritual tradition is to help us to perceive things correctly.
The core of Buddhism is that we are seeing an illusion that we don't see things the way that they are.
We don't see reality.
And meditation is a way that we transcend our perception.
So that is going to be the first intention.
To open our minds and open our hearts.
To see things in a new light.
Shift your awareness to starting to notice the space that is in the mind.
The mind is often referred to this vast and expansive quality of an ocean.
It's tough to see where the mind starts and where it ends.
Allow yourself to breathe in space throughout the mind.
Maybe bringing your awareness to the space that is in between the eyebrows,
Just in the forehead,
The third eye center.
Feeling the vastness,
Luminosity of the mind.
Now with the intention of opening our minds to see things in a new way,
We are going to imagine that if on our head there was a cup that was turned over its side,
Nothing can get in.
And we are going to pretend that our mind is just like this cup.
And we are going to flip open our minds.
We are going to flip our cup so that there is just open space throughout the top of your mind.
And you can start to imagine that all of the thoughts that might be coming in,
See them just move away in the space that is created from this openness.
And begin to allow your mind to start taking up the space,
Not only in your head,
But see your mind with this open nature.
Start to take up all of the space that is in your room.
And it might help you to imagine that you are filling the room from your mind with this white light that is representative of your mind filling space,
Noticing all the little intricacies.
Maybe you can picture what the room you are in looks like.
Maybe you can hear sounds that weren't there before.
Continuing to come back to your breath if you lose track.
And if a thought does come,
Allowing it to move out of your head and continue to fill up the space in the room.
And we are going to continue moving the experience of the space in the room.
And I'd like your mind to start to fill the space that is in your town.
Noticing if there is a more expansive nature to your body as you shift your awareness.
And then also noticing if there is not.
There is never a right way that you should be feeling or experiencing.
Simply allow your mind to fill up the entirety of your town.
And then begin to continue to move this out into your state or your country,
Your province.
And then move this out,
Continuing into your country.
And then allow the space of your mind to start to fill up the entire world.
And maybe you imagine that everyone that is meditating right now,
That your minds are all connected.
That we are all connected to all of the information,
All of the other people that are walking our planet.
Starting to see in a new way.
Also allowing the openness to allow us to receive things.
The goal is not to try to perceive things in a new way.
The goal is to allow our perception to shift.
And we do that by staying present,
Staying open.
Allow your mind to expand out into the universe.
Throughout the different galaxies,
Taking up all of the space that is in outer space.
And continuing to feel the space move even beyond,
Even up to infinity.
Allowing your mind to take up all that there is.
Because in essence,
That is the truth of who you are.
You are limitless.
You start and end nowhere.
Take a few more breaths.
Start to bring all of that space that you created back down into your body.
And let's bring it into our heart.
Maybe just that shift in attention allows you to broaden through the chest again.
Giving all of that openness into one of the places that often can use it most.
And we are going to move through that intention again,
One by one.
So start to notice the space in your heart.
Maybe you can feel your heartbeat.
And then start to expand the space in your heart out into the room.
Expand it out into your town,
Your city,
Out into your state,
Province,
Area,
To your country.
Expand it out all the way so your openness,
The light of your heart is feeling the entire world connected with the hearts of everyone else,
Not only who is meditating,
But everyone else who is living on our planet.
And moving even further throughout space,
Throughout the infinite vast sea of stars,
Taking up all that there is.
From this openness of heart,
This openness of mind,
Think of something that you've said to yourself that has limited you.
That is in essence not the correct perception.
Because the correct perception is that you are limitless,
You are infinite.
So what is that thing that you've said to yourself?
That you are not good enough to do this.
You are unlovable,
You are no good,
You will never be this person,
You will never have what they have.
All the negative things that we could say to ourselves that in essence limit us,
That are not right perception.
And from this openness of perception,
From this new light of awareness,
We're going to ask,
How can I see myself differently?
How can I let go of these lies that I've been telling myself,
Of why I can't be who I want to be?
I don't have the time,
I don't have the credentials,
I don't have the money.
All of the things that are limiting our perception,
Muting our experience of being alive.
How can I see myself differently?
That's all we need to ask right now.
How can I see myself?
How can I see the situation differently?
And to affirm in our true qualities,
To give ourselves the right perception that we are.
I want to move to a few affirmations.
I am enough.
I am capable.
I am capable of being who I am.
How do I become capable when everything goes right?
I am capable.
Limitless I can find peace I am enough I am limitless I am capable I can find peace I am limitless Take a nice releasing and cooling breath in and relaxing breath out and maybe set the intention that you will be shown new ways to perceive today or this week.
And just open yourself to that.
Maybe as you're in line grabbing a coffee or just in a room at work or with other people.
If you can imagine what it would be like in that room if your heart was really filling the room with each other.
If your mind was filling the space with everyone.
This is a way to kind of bring you back to your limitless nature during our day to day activity.
And start to slowly come back to your hands rested gently to the weight of your body.
And then whenever you feel complete with your meditation you can slowly open your eyes and come back to your day.

Another great meditation. I really enjoyed the mind expanding experience...it helped me remember to be the watcher + that I get to decide what things stick with me + what things I can let go of.

Always love listening you Lou’s meditation. In this time of the pandemic it is difficult to find inner peace - to look within. In the beginning of the meditation my mind felt blank - like a rectangular box filled with the color gray. It took some time for me to break through that feeling of nothingness - to open my mind and heart. I was able to see the ocean the sky the sand - I flew up and saw the entire earth. At that moment I realized everyone across the earth is going through the same thing - I sent love and healing Thick you

I always love the feeling of expansiveness, but today I noticed more clearly the difference between the mind-expansion and heart-expansion! And in the heart-expansion I had a really good moment where I noticed how much I’ve been telling myself I’m not good enough and how much I’ve been trying to prove that wrong during my whole degree (I’m starting my graduation project tomorrow, so that’s a looong time). Hopefully I can use this upcoming semester to come to terms with the fact that there is a possibility that I’m not as good at this as other people and/or that I’m not as interested in it like other people (anymore). I’ll find the next (career) step at some point! Thank you Lou, this was wonderful
