Hello and welcome to 5 minutes in nature with me Liz Scott.
Can you hear that?
There's the cuckoo in the background.
I don't know if you can hear it,
It's in the woodland just below me.
But it makes me smile because of course at this time of year this is when we hear the cuckoo and it's a really special time of year.
I'm just behind a couple of gorse bushes here up on Dartmoor.
They're very resplendent with their yellow flowers and they're giving me a bit of shelter from the easterly wind.
And I've just walked past ponies and I can see a white butterfly dodging its way over the grassland of the moor.
And I can hear above me as well,
Or have heard,
Skylarks.
I can't hear any right at the moment but as I was walking here today I could hear the skylark as well.
And today's reflection is very much about a gratitude I feel for understanding how life works.
The inside out understanding,
Or the three principles,
Has taken so much off my mind trying to work out about life.
What's right,
What's wrong,
What's positive,
What's negative.
How I can feel happier more of the time.
How to get rid of limiting beliefs.
The inside out understanding has reduced all that thinking I had about trying hard to think better or to make my life better.
And it's given me the equivalent of an instruction manual of how life works.
And the instruction manual of how life works is an understanding.
It helps explain everything.
For me this understanding has taken so much off my mind.
I'm no longer trying to work things out.
Instead I'm understanding how and why things happen.
And there's a quote from a chap called Jack Pransky that really encapsulates this for me.
If I was to summarise the three principles or the inside out understanding,
Simply it's this.
All we are is peace,
Love and wisdom and the power to create the illusion that we're not.
All we are is peace,
Love and wisdom and the power to create the illusion that we're not.
And that for me is the understanding.
That's the essence of what I have in my life that I didn't have for many,
Many years when I was a seeker and searcher,
Trying many different techniques and tools and trainings to find happiness.
And what makes this inside out understanding or the three principles so special is that it's very simple.
It makes sense of life.
And I've got a course called An Introduction to the Three Principles here on Insight Timer if you want to know more.
But in essence,
When you realise that beneath the noise of your thinking you are peace,
Love and wisdom,
And that never goes away,
Then it doesn't matter what illusions are created through thought.
All we are is peace,
Love and wisdom and the power to create the illusion that we're not.
Thought is a powerful gift and can take us away from the truth of who we are.
At least it can tempt us away.
It can create dramas and stories that seem to envelop us.
But any story that you find yourself in where you imagine yourself as a victim or a hero,
Then you need to know that you've created a story that is taking you away from who you truly are.
And who you truly are is the energy of life.
It is peace,
Love and wisdom.
So today is a reminder of that.
And if you find yourself lost in unsettled thoughts or feelings or emotions,
If you find yourself stressed or worried or anxious or concerned or ruminating on the past or feeling guilty or worrying about the future,
Know that that is a powerful illusion.
It's not who you truly are.
It's called being human.
You don't get rid of it.
That's part and parcel of what it is to be alive.
However,
When you realize that beneath all that noise,
You are at your depth.
Peace,
Love and wisdom.
That knowing is like a guidance system.
It brings you back to who you truly are.
And from that place,
Life feels easeful.
It feels manageable.
It's a place you can navigate.
So remember,
All we are is peace,
Love and wisdom and the power to create the illusion that we're not.
And don't forget,
I'll be back again tomorrow on Insight Timer.
And I look forward to hearing from you again then.
