Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott.

Wow it's a misty wet one up here on Dartmoor today.

I have just come through a gate that leads me back on a lane that's going to take me back home and up on the moorland itself it's a thick mist.

I haven't gone far.

If you get lost in it well it'll be tricky to find your way out of it that's for sure and I'm coming down the lane thick with mud and big puddles and the trees are absolutely soaking wet with the wetness of the mist and big plops of water coming down off the trees.

You can probably hear them splattering onto my coat as I walk down the lane and my reflection today is a reflection on the foundation of love.

Last night my husband and I went to listen to a non-dual teacher.

If you remember yesterday I was absolutely shattered and was feeling not very inspired to go walking but we went out that evening and and even though my body was tired I knew it was important to go.

It was a real inner compass knowing moment realizing that listening to this non-dual teacher and being in the audience was exactly what I needed at a spiritual level even though my body was tired.

And one of the things that came through when somebody asked him a question which inspired me a lot and had me reflect on this subject of love is that a mother said to him what is it I should do with my young son?

How can I share this non-dual understanding with him?

And the teacher said in a really clear gentle way that it really wasn't on her to share this with her son or to try and explain it.

Really what she was there to do was to give her son a foundation of love like to be there for him.

And the teacher then went on to explain that he realized growing up and he only realized it when he was in his 40s but he realized that when he was growing up his parents gave him this extraordinary foundation of love.

He had a childhood where he knew a hundred percent of the time his parents loved him and it was only when he was older as an adult and he spoke with different people that he began to realize that this was actually quite unusual having that foundation of love as a child growing up unconditional love from your parents was unusual.

Many people didn't experience that at all and I reflected on that for myself because I too have had an extraordinary childhood.

One where I absolutely a hundred percent knew that my parents loved me and they shared that love in different ways.

They shared it in working hard,

In giving me opportunities to do things.

They shared it in the way they talked with me and listened to me.

They shared it in the way that when I was an adult I always knew I had a home to go back to if I needed it.

They were there rock solid in their love for me and I realized that that was an extraordinary gift and I'm just so grateful for that gift and it also has me realize that offering people a hand of friendship,

Of love,

Of compassion,

Of being there for people that in a sense is offering unconditional love.

We don't need to teach anybody anything that's not what we're here for.

What we're here for is to feel the essence of our being which is love and to allow that to flow through us and out of us and as we do that and in whatever way shape or form it takes,

People feel it.

They feel it not because we are an external force helping them.

They feel it because it awakens in them the fact and truth that they too are made from this foundational essence of love and there is nothing more powerful than that.

Waking people up to love through shining your own love,

Radiating your own love is the most powerful gift you can give anybody and you can do that every single day.

So today is just a reminder that the power of love shows up in different ways.

You can just be love,

A loving presence and that in its own right will make a difference in somebody's life.

Do join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.

I look forward to your company again then.

Meet your Teacher
