Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me Liz Scott.
I'm at the head of the stream called the Ludbrook and it's not far from my house.
It's probably maybe a mile and a half or two miles away and I've walked to the head of the stream and it disappears from a trickling gushing water that spills off the moorland and the higher up you get it becomes more more grassy and marshy and then in front of me all I can see is like a marshy grass but no sign of the stream that is oozing up through the peat and the soil and then gathering and making its way down the hill and forming into the stream and eventually down to the rivers and the sea itself.
And today's reflection is a question about looking towards the truth of who you are,
The truth that wants to be expressed through you.
And I'm going to talk a little bit more about this and would love you to reflect on what this means for you.
I see that we are all individuals,
We are all human beings with a wonderful array of stories and beliefs and cultural upbringings and ideas about who we are and who we're not and what's right and what's wrong.
And in amidst all of those elements of personality,
We have gifts.
We have gifts that are unique to us.
One of my gifts is to share with you what I see in nature and to speak every day.
That's a gift.
And I love it because for me,
I can express this gift into the world.
I was with a man today who has a wonderful gift of art.
And he showed me a little cartoon book he was creating and it was a wonderful little booklet that had him be in his element,
Showing his artwork,
Allowing his artwork to be an expression of him in the world.
And there are other ways that this comes through.
A friend of mine is the most wonderful hostess and organizer and she welcomes people into her home and has conversations with people.
She's getting older now and she loves being in fresh,
New,
Spiritual conversations that take place in her home.
And welcomes people in,
That's her gift.
She brings people into her home and creates a space of deep connection and conversation.
What is your gift?
What is the truth that you have that wants expression in the world?
As you know,
More recently,
I've been in touch with a sense of elderhood as a woman,
This essence of connection back to ancestral wisdom.
I don't really know what that means but I have a sense that this is about dipping into a deep well of wisdom that is available if only we take time to lower our bucket and pull up the water.
For me that feels as though it's something to explore,
To express,
To be,
To share in the world and I see that older women are the ones sometimes that talk themselves out of dipping that bucket into the water.
They don't drink from this crystal clear refreshing water themselves.
And one of the truths I feel for me to express is to bring older women together so that they allow themselves to feel that and see what wants to be expressed in the world.
So what is your truth?
What is the truth in you that wants to be expressed?
It's so easy to get lost in thought and reasoning and logic and what we can't do and see all these things that get in the way of our true expression in the world.
And I'm not asking you to do anything.
I'm not asking you to share anything.
I'm asking you to look within and see what there is that wants expression through you,
Through your unique lens,
Your unique colouring kaleidoscope of beauty that wants to be expressed in the world.
What is your truth that wants to be expressed?
I'd love to know your reflections.
And don't forget to join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
