Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me Liz Scott where every day in February I take you out and about as I walk in nature and listen to her wisdom.
And today I'm walking down Lane near Dartmoor walking home and I'm glad to be out of the wind because it's a quite a bitterly cold wind up on Dartmoor at the moment and I've been reflecting on a pilgrimage that I'm going to be undertaking in the next few weeks and the pilgrimage is following energy lines two energy lines they're called the Mary and Michael energy currents and they follow what's been described as the most famous ley line in the world the Mary and Michael ley line and the line in the UK goes diagonally across the country from Cornwall which is at the tip of England and it crosses diagonally across the country through to Norfolk and along this route these energy lines weave and bit like a snake really and cross each other at different points and they cross over at places like Glastonbury you might have heard of Glastonbury and Avebury where there's a big stone circle and when I tell people I'm about to undertake this pilgrimage people often ask me how long will it take and I say well I think it's going to take if I do it all about 50 days and it's you know probably about 12 miles a day I'll be walking and no I can't follow the energy current because they pass through private land and they pass over busy roads but I will be going to particular points along these energy currents churches and sacred sites that have been identified and I get one of two reactions when people hear about my pilgrimage one reaction is crikey you crazy are you are you sure you want to do this why are you doing this and then the other reaction is wow that sounds really inspiring like what has you do it there's a real deep curiosity about what I'm doing and why I'm doing it and how it came about and the truth is whilst I have every intention of walking this pilgrimage and it will take about 50 days if I walk the whole thing I have no idea if it will actually happen I've got everything in place I'm planning it and continue to plan it and I've got the roots and my footwear and my coat and and plans about where I'm gonna stay but the truth is I just genuinely don't know if it's going to happen because we don't really know what's going to happen in life do we we have our plans but then life just goes its own way but one of the things I do know is that I do know that I listened within and that this pilgrimage feels so right and that in essence is what I want to share with you today or to have you reflect on really is it's about listening within to that sense of what you are drawn to and I do remember when it first occurred to me that I wanted to walk this pilgrimage that whilst it felt right within me I hadn't told anyone and I knew that if I told for example my husband and he wasn't supportive of it then it probably would shrivel and die as an idea but when I told him and his reaction was one of curiosity I found that the words that I spoke seemed to crystallize this idea into something real an aspiration that was going to happen and the thing that started it was me listening within to that draw and intuition and feeling what it was that wanted to be expressed and that's what I want to share today are you listening in I don't expect you'll be drawn to do a pilgrimage it's not that we all listen in to the same calling but if you do listen in you will know what you are being drawn to do in the world and that's what I'd love you to reflect on today
