Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott on an early morning walk and watching the sun rising through a rather grey sky and it's casting a golden light across the top of the grass here on Dartmoor which has been very yellow all year but right now it's glinting gold in this deep orangey light of the rising sun.
And today's reflection came about from a deep listening training I was on recently.
I was talking about it earlier in the week.
And the deep listening training gave me so much.
But one of the things I want to share with you today is I had a realization and insight,
And I think it might be helpful for you.
As you know,
The work I'm involved with is embedded or founded in the three principles,
The inside-out understanding.
And ultimately,
This is looking to the oneness of life,
Looking to that energy that connects us all.
And realising at that level we are all deeply okay.
And the second thing that is really helpful to realize is that we're humans and we can get lost in a lot of thought and thinking.
So we are both deeply okay at the level of soul and we have a lot of thinking.
That's what the three principles,
The inside out understanding is sharing.
And as I was listening to the person who was delivering the training,
He said something about his long,
Long journey in understanding the inside-out understanding.
He said it took him probably about 20 years.
I mean,
He was fascinated.
He kept listening and learning from different speakers and people.
But he said that it took about 20 years and he said it felt as though my,
I had seen something deeply at my level of soul.
But it took 20 years for my mind,
My little independent identity mind,
To catch up.
And I listened to that and I had a light bulb moment for myself because I was deeply aware,
As you know,
I've been talking about a transition I've been going through for quite some time now as an older woman.
Feeling as though life is shifting,
But not quite understanding in what direction I'm going to be heading next.
And then I realized as he spoke is that I too have experienced and am experiencing something similar,
Which is there has been a shift in me,
Like at the level of soul,
Something is shifted.
There is a calling for me to step in a different direction.
And I am hearing it and honoring it.
But my mind,
My little mind,
My identity mind of Liz.
Is taking a bit longer to catch up.
And that really helped me enormously because I'd been feeling at times a little bit lost and confused,
Wondering why it was I was feeling my intuition calling me in one direction and yet also not feeling as though I were fully able to move in that direction.
And this explained it.
It's like when we have an insight,
When we have a realization about the true nature of how things work.
It doesn't mean instantly our whole lives shift and change.
For some it does.
But for most people,
For most of us,
We have an insight,
We see something deeply about the true nature of who we are.
And then it takes a little bit of time for our intellect to catch up.
We are still present to what we know,
What we've seen,
But our intellect is just a little bit behind.
We've got to wait for it to catch up with where we're at.
It reminds me a little bit of when I go out walking with my sister,
Is that I walk,
I don't walk fast,
But I walk faster than she does.
And often I have to pause to let her catch up with me.
And that's what it feels like for me is that I am going through a shift of direction.
And things are starting to catch up.
And even just seeing that as an insight,
Realizing like,
Oh,
That's what's happening in my life.
That insight helped me settle and realise that it's okay.
I feel deeply peaceful with where I am in life.
And I realise everything is happening in its own time.
And all I need to do is be present to its unfolding.
Let me know your reflections on that,
Where you see something at the level of soul,
But it maybe takes a little bit longer for the rest of you to catch up.
I'd love to hear your reflections,
And don't forget to join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
