Have you ever scrolled through your social media and wondered how others do it?
How they are so perfect?
Has that ever made you feel insecure?
I bet it has,
Because the truth is,
We've all felt that way at some point.
This guided meditation is meant to change some of your brain chemistry and create some new neural pathways that are more realistic and more true.
Find a good spot,
Somewhere private and cozy.
Sit or lay down,
That doesn't matter as long as you are comfortable.
We will start with some breathing to help clear your mind and open your brain up for our messages.
Take a deep breath in,
Hold it for 3 seconds and breathe out fully.
Focus on breathing with your belly,
Not your chest.
So as you breathe in,
Push your belly out and breathe out.
We tend to breathe with our chest,
But that's actually not how our bodies are designed and it can create tension in your shoulders.
Take another deep breath in and release through your mouth.
In through your nose,
Out through your mouth.
One more in and out.
If you're ever feeling stressed about something,
Do these breathing exercises.
It helps calm your nerves but also provides more oxygen to your brain.
The effects really are phenomenal.
Now let's examine the feelings social media can give us.
Does it ever stress you out,
Seeing other people's perfect pictures,
Their likes,
Their lives?
Do you ever compare yourself to them?
You probably do.
We all fall in that trap.
And that's what it is,
A trap.
Because a picture never tells a whole truth,
Does it?
If a girl takes a cute snap of herself,
Does it show the yelling of her parents in the other room?
If someone posts a picture of their group of friends,
Does it show the times they were ignored by those same friends?
It doesn't.
It shows what we want it to show.
We filter,
We stage,
We discard the failed pictures.
Just take a moment to really absorb the meaning of that.
We filter and stage.
So when you compare yourself to a life of a social profile,
You're comparing yourself to a portrait of a staged,
Filtered perfection.
Not a real life person,
A staged and filtered person.
This is what makes you feel insecure.
Because you see the whole you,
With the messy corner of your room,
With the fighting parents in the other room,
With the loneliness we all feel sometimes.
You compare the real you to the staged and filtered social profile.
You are not perfect,
But neither are they.
Just because their flaws are out of frame and their filters make them seem perfect,
Doesn't make them actually perfect.
We all have flaws.
It's how graceful you deal with them that determines the kind of person you are.
I want you to take another deep breath in and when you breathe out say no more perfection.
Breathe in and out.
No more perfection.
You don't have to say it out loud.
It can be in your mind.
Deep breath in and out.
No more perfection.
Deep breath in and out.
I am who I was meant to be.
In and out.
I am who I was meant to be.
The universe has a plan and you belong in that plan.
Even if you are unsure of your part in that plan.
You are where you were supposed to be and you are who you were meant to be.
Deep breath in and out.
Social media is staged and filtered.
In and out.
Social media is staged and filtered.
In and out.
I am me and that's okay.
In and out.
I am me and that's okay.
In and out.
I am who I was meant to be.
In and out.
I am who I was meant to be.
Sit here and just relax for a bit.
Soak up the quiet.
Enjoy this peace.
Accept yourself.
You are who you were meant to be.
