I am going to try and give you a sleep that is purrfect tonight.
So lay back,
Get comfy,
Pull up your sheets off your pillow and sink into your mattress.
This story is about a kid,
Just like you,
Living where you now live,
Just a long time ago.
This kid heard a story one night about kittens.
It was a sweet story and they really enjoyed it.
But never did they think this story could actually come true.
But then it did.
The story went like this.
Once upon a time,
There was a magical being on earth.
They were kind and gentle and took care of all living beings.
At night,
They kept fears away and made sure all kids slept well and were filled with nice dreams.
The world was a beautiful place with only good.
One night,
They noticed a child that was wide awake,
Even though the moon was up high in the sky.
They went to the child's window and with their magic,
They peeked in.
The child seemed a bit scared and not feeling the best.
They were holding a soft cat stuffy close to their chest.
The magical being wanted to help the child,
So they used their magic to go into the stuffy and bring it to life.
When the stuffy started to talk,
The child was a little surprised,
But they had always hoped and dreamt that their stuffies would one day come to life.
So what a fantastic moment to see their fluffy stuffy come to life.
The little cat asked the kid why they were still up.
The kid sniffed.
My room is so dark tonight.
It scares me.
The cat looked around the room and gave a quiet meow.
I don't understand.
It looks nice and bright in here,
It said to the kid.
The kid looked around and saw lots of dark places around and looked at the cat puzzled.
The cat looked around again and gave a little meow again.
Oh,
I know,
It said.
My cat eyes can see so much more in the dark.
The kid looked at the cat sadly.
I wish I was able to see the light like you.
The cat thought for a moment.
Well,
If you really want to,
I think I can help.
The kid started smiling rightly.
Of course they wanted that.
They wouldn't be scared of the dark if they could because they would be able to see.
They hugged the stuffy tightly.
Yes,
Yes,
I would love that.
The cat purred softly and from within the magical being activated the magic to transform the child.
Sparkles flew,
A tingling feeling spread through their body and a big sneeze came up in their nose.
Achoo!
Their eyes closed when they sneezed and it almost felt like they fell down.
It was a really big sneeze.
When they opened their eyes,
They could see all around.
Yeah,
They had cat vision.
As they looked around,
Their room seemed different.
It seemed so big suddenly.
Odd.
They felt another sneeze coming up and they lifted their hand to rub their nose.
A little orange fluffy paw reached up to their nose.
Wait,
What?
A paw?
Orange?
Very confused,
The kid looked around.
Then they realized the room was bigger.
Or better yet,
They were a lot smaller.
They looked over at their cat stuffy.
It was looking at them with an amused smile.
Isn't it great to see?
You should try to jump.
Kittens are great jumpers.
The kid looked at the stuffy with the biggest eyes you could ever imagine.
It tried to say something,
But all that came out was a scratchy meow.
Oh no.
With the magical cat vision came an entire cat body,
Tail in a hole.
The kid was shocked.
What now?
My parents will surely notice that I changed into a little tabby kitten.
How in the world will I be able to explain the tail and the fur?
I can't even talk.
I just meow.
That stuffy looked at its new kitten friend and realized the shock it was going through.
It walked over on the blankets to the kitten and rubbed its gentle face against a tiny little kitten.
It made the kitten feel so safe.
The cat explained the magic would wear off overnight and the kid would wake up normal again tomorrow.
The kitten sighed and its belly purred.
It made the kitten smile.
That felt so funny.
The cat jumped from the bed to the window and squeezed its body out of the window crack onto the windowsill.
The kitten fell out happily.
From the window they jumped onto the big tree outside and climbed down.
A cool breeze stroked their fur.
A squirrel chattered in the tree above.
Suddenly the night wasn't scary anymore.
It was a happy place filled with night animals wandering the empty streets.
They sat out on the grass for a bit,
Looking at the moon and the stars and the little kitten started yawning.
The cat smiled and purred.
I think it's time for us to go back up and go to sleep,
Little one.
The cat and the kitten climbed back into the bedroom and snuggled up in the blankets.
They found a cozy and warm little nest in the big bed.
The little kitten opened its eyes one more time and saw the bride room with their cat stuffy right beside them.
The purr in their belly made them smile as they drifted off to sleep.
The next morning their mom opened the door and laughed.
The little kitten was laying in a heap of sheets and pillows curled up in the middle of the bed.
Mom smiled as she kissed the child.
You slept like a little kitten,
Didn't you?
She whispered.
From that moment on,
Whenever the child felt uneasy in bed,
They hugged their cat stuffy and whispered,
I wish I could see you like a cat.
And the magic from within the child made them turn into the sweet little kitten again.
Rumor has it that the magical being decided that night to give a little bit of their magic to all stuffies.
And from that moment on,
All kids would have the power to sleep like a cat.
