Grounding.
Another way to settle yourself into the present moment in preparation for either meditation or breath work is to ground yourself.
Start by making yourself comfortable in a seat of your choice and take a few deep clearing breaths.
On your next inhale,
Bring your attention to the base of your spine.
And when exhaling,
Send the breath towards earth below.
Take a full deep breath in and as you exhale,
Imagine roots extending from your spine down into the earth.
Taking a few breaths here to form a root system that travels from your spine to deep within the center of the earth.
You may choose large tree roots or many web-like roots intermingling with the earth below.
But either way,
Focus on making your way to the energetic core of the earth.
Once there,
Take a few breaths in this sacred space to notice what you feel.
Powerful protector,
Nurturing provider.
Take as long as you like to bask in the deeply grounding earth energy.
When you feel you are ready to release,
Bring your focus back to the base of your spine and take a few deep breaths here to complete this method of grounding.
