Join me for a breath practice to enliven your energies and entrain them into flow. This session includes Breath of Fire which is a cleansing and clearing breath that awakens the subtle energy channels in your body. The practice of Breath of Fire can be intense, but here we are taking several short rounds that can be used to build up to longer practices. If you feel any discomfort at all, please slow your pace or discontinue the technique.

Welcome.

Take a few deep breaths here to settle in.

Inhale deeply through the nose,

And exhale completely through your mouth.

We'll begin with a clearing and energizing breath,

Kapalabhati or a breath of fire.

If you're not familiar with this technique,

Please first listen to my recording,

Learn Breath of Fire,

For a full tutorial.

As a reminder,

All inhales and exhales are through the nose.

Let's start.

Inhale about halfway,

And then begin,

Exhale,

Exhale,

Exhale.

We focus on a short,

Strong exhale,

Which pumps the belly,

Continue.

Release and take a deep inhale,

Then a long,

Slow exhale.

Adding on,

Let's try breath of fire,

Starting with our focus on the belly.

Then with each exhale,

Imagine you are pumping and clearing a way upward through your center channel all the way to your crown.

I'll guide you.

Inhale about halfway,

And then exhale,

Exhale,

Exhale.

First focus on the belly,

Then bring your attention to the solar plexus,

And rise up to your sternum,

Continuing the breath along the way,

Bring your awareness into your heart,

All the while continue pumping,

Moving to the upper chest,

Through the throat,

Rising into the brain,

Then behind the eyes,

Upward,

Right out through the crown.

Take a deep inhale,

Exhale fully here to clear.

Another deep inhale and exhale through the mouth to release.

Let's do another round of breath of fire with this directional awareness through the center channel.

So inhale,

And begin with exhale,

Exhale,

Exhale.

First with attention,

Low in the belly,

Then rising up through the solar plexus.

Pumping and exhaling,

Making your way up through the sternum,

Into the heart space,

Continuing up through the channel,

Into the throat,

Passing into the low brain,

Continue pumping and exhaling behind the eyes,

Up through the crown,

And release.

Full deep inhale,

Exhale out of your mouth to reset.

Allow your breath to rest.

Just reset.

Allow your breath to rest here a moment.

Let's do one more round of breath of fire with this directional awareness from the belly all the way up through the crown and beyond.

Inhale about halfway,

And begin,

Exhale,

Exhale,

Exhale.

First with attention on the belly,

Bring your focus to the diaphragm,

Next moving up into the sternum,

Upward into the heart,

Continue the pumping action,

Breath of fire,

Move the exhale up through the throat,

To the low brain,

Continuing behind the eyes,

Up through the crown,

Stay with me,

Above the crown,

Continue two feet above your head,

And stretch upward four feet above your head,

Okay now release,

Full deep inhale,

And exhale out of your mouth to reset.

Allow your breath to return to its natural tempting pace.

Take a moment,

Notice how you feel.

You may feel a really strong stirring,

An effervescence even.

Breath of fire clears the energy channels,

So the energy begins to move more freely in your system.

We'll assist this movement of the energy and roll it now through our toric field.

We're going to do this by tracing our hands along the toric field,

Which encompasses our body.

So as you inhale,

Imagine drawing energy up from the earth,

And as you do so,

Bring your hands together,

The backs of your hands touching,

Tracing up the center line in front of your body,

Up through the center channel,

Rising above your head,

And separating as you exhale,

Extending your arms,

Hands out away from you,

As your arms drop down to your sides.

So again,

Inhale up from the earth,

Tracing your hands together up the center channel,

Rising above your head,

Separating as you exhale,

And extend your hands out and away from you,

As your arms drop down to your sides.

Continuing at your pace,

Slow inhales,

Longer exhales,

All the while entraining the energy with your toric field,

With your flow.

This focuses all of the energy we've cultivated with the breath of fire into flow.

Smooth it out so it can be utilized for your day.

Let's do three more here.

Inhale up from the earth,

Tracing your hands together up the center channel,

Raising above your head,

Separating as you exhale,

And extend your hands out and away from you,

Dropping your arms to your sides.

Last one,

Inhale up from the earth,

Tracing your hands together up the center channel,

Rising above your head,

Separating as you exhale,

Extending your hands out and away from you.

Release your hands by your sides,

Or in your lap,

And then rest here.

Notice the quality of your energy now.

For me,

There is still effervescence,

But it's tamed,

Like energy at the ready.

This is always available,

A fountain of energy to be utilized for our nourishment,

And to propel us forward into our day.
