If your mind feels busy or caught in the pain,
Checking,
Analysing,
Trying to work it out,
Just for this moment,
Let's pause.
You do not have to figure anything out right now.
We're not stopping thoughts,
We're practising not following them.
So your body can settle,
Even if the mind stays active.
And if your hands or legs are painful right now,
That's okay,
You can choose any point of contact that feels more neutral or steady.
I invite you if it feels comfortable to bring your attention to your hands.
Feel the weight of them,
Resting exactly where they are.
You do not have to move them,
Just feel them.
And if your hands are hard to feel,
You might notice your legs instead,
Or any place where your body is being supported.
And if your mind pulls you back into the thoughts,
That's okay,
You might simply notice,
Ah,
Thinking,
And gently come back to the weight of your hands,
Or the support beneath your legs,
Or anywhere in your body that feels more neutral or steady.
And it could be the breath,
Just noticing and returning without effort,
Without needing to get it right.
And you might start to notice the thoughts are still there,
And something else is here too,
Perhaps a little more space,
A little less urgency,
Maybe a little less pull.
Your body doesn't need the mind to go quiet to begin settling,
It can soften even while thoughts are still moving.
You do not need to follow every thought,
You can let the thinking be there,
Like background sounds,
And you stay here with something steadier.
Even if it's subtle,
Even if it comes and goes,
That is enough.
If it helps,
You can imagine thoughts like clouds moving across the sky,
You do not need to chase them,
Just noticing and returning back to one steady place.
And if another thought comes in,
What if this doesn't work,
Or I can't do this,
You can meet that thought the same way,
Ah,
Thinking,
And gently come back,
Just returning to somewhere neutral and steady.
And as you do,
Your system begins to learn something,
Without you needing to work it out,
That thoughts can be here,
And you do not have to follow them.
The discomfort can be here,
And you do not have to add more struggle on top of it,
Just this moment and one steady anchor.
The weight of the hands,
The support under the legs,
The contact beneath you,
And each time you return,
You create a little more space,
A little more steadiness,
A little more choice.
Take a moment and breathe gently,
Letting the breath be steady,
Breathing in,
And breathing out.
And if any thoughts are here,
You might also notice a little more space,
Less urgency,
Or simply less pull.
Allow yourself to rest in this moment,
Or you might be drifting into sleep,
Letting the mind move on,
Without needing to follow it.
And for now,
There's nothing else you need to do,
Just letting everything settle as it is,
Resting with the breath,
Allowing your body to be supported.
And you can rest here,
With the music in the background,
Steadying your breath,
And you can choose to move on with the rest of your day,
Or drift into a deep,
Restful sleep.
