Free of alcohol addiction I encourage you to find a private place where you will not be interrupted,
Can close your eyes and please do not listen to this recording while driving a vehicle or operating machinery Let's begin Make yourself comfortable Settle yourself down Move your body around and find that comfortable position Make sure your back is supported and your hands and feet are uncrossed and resting comfortably so you can begin to relax and enjoy this time for you This is your time and space And all you have to do is focus on becoming comfortable and relaxed Wherever you are Breathe gently And as you start to relax,
Become aware that each breath is making your arms and legs heavy and relaxed That's right,
Heavy and relaxed Perhaps they may feel tired and as you think about that tiredness,
As you feel your body relaxing,
You might notice your eyes are beginning to soften their gaze And maybe they are starting to experience that heavy sensation And as you feel that tiredness,
That heaviness growing,
Heavy and tired,
Those eyes can completely relax That's right,
Completely relax And close down if they haven't already And as you close down your eyes,
You are also closing the door on old drinking habits that no longer serve you That's right And as you close down,
Shut down all those old drinking habits,
You can become more aware of the natural rhythm of your breathing And feelings of comfort that develops through your body,
Just letting go And by letting go you can feel even more relaxed Going deeper and deeper With every breath out Deeper and deeper More and more relaxed And now that you are becoming more relaxed and more comfortable,
I invite you to take a deep cleansing breath and become more aware of your breathing And as you bring your attention to the breath,
Perhaps you can feel the coolness of your breath as it enters your nostrils And as you pull in that breath,
Notice your chest as it rises And as you exhale,
Notice your chest as it falls With every breath out That's right Simply notice the rise and fall of your chest with every breath in and out All you need to do is bring your attention to your chest as it rises and falls Simply notice the natural rhythm of breathing in and out Just allow your awareness to focus on your breath and relax Allow your awareness to remain focused on your breath as you go deeper and deeper relaxed And as you relax,
You do not need to make any conscious effort to breathe Your marvellous unconscious mind has been taking care of your breathing from the moment of your birth throughout your life And just as your unconscious mind is the guardian of your breath and all your bodily functions,
It is also the creator of your dreams and the champion of your highest aspirations Always supporting you,
Protecting you and working for your greatest good Knowing this,
You can relax even more deeply with each and every breath you take And from this point onward,
You can allow yourself to simply rest on your breath Rest and relax deeper and deeper And you can feel that wonderful state of relaxation.
Can you not?
That's right.
Just follow along and tune in wherever you are.
There's no right or wrong way,
No right or wrong response Just a time to come back to yourself as you are right at this moment And knowing that the more you relax,
The deeper you go And the deeper you go,
The more you can relax The more you can relax,
Allowing your subconscious mind with all its awesome power to work on your behalf To easily and effortlessly understand and receive every positive suggestion And allow it to become a part of you for as long as it is of use That's right.
I want you to understand that you are in control.
You are in control at all times It's all up to you,
Is it not?
And in a moment,
I'm going to count from 10 to 1.
You'll be deeply relaxed and in control Let's begin with 10.
Your feet feel heavy and relaxed Your ankles and toes feel as if they are wrapped in the comforting warmth of the energy rising up from the earth and into your body Nine.
The warmth envelops your calm up to your knees.
And I don't know but you may like to give this warm energy a shape And a colour.
It might feel like being surrounded in soft,
Light golden mist Or you may see it as a piece of deep blue velvet enveloping you from the feet upwards Eight.
Sinking deeper now,
Allowing your body to sink into the warmth or coolness of comfort Seeing the energy swirling all around your thighs and up through your hips into the larger muscles of your lower torso Seven.
The relaxation now rises up through your chest,
Bringing comfort to all of your organs and muscles Six.
As the feeling of relaxation continues to grow,
You feel your shoulders relaxing And that relaxation flows all the way down your arms,
Right down to the tips of your fingers Five.
Feel the comfort now into your neck and jaw,
Relaxing,
Releasing any tension Four.
Feel yourself sinking deeper and deeper now.
See yourself descending down towards a comfortable space Filled with pillows and warmth or coolness that is waiting to welcome you Three.
Step down slowly,
Three times more relaxed,
Going down further,
Stepping lightly And you can see the space where you will be welcomed into deep,
Deep relaxation Two.
Stepping all the way down,
You can see and feel the effects of deep relaxation You are enfolded into the comfortable embrace as you step down onto the last step.
Number one Step down into the space of total relaxation.
Relax,
Relax,
Enjoying the feeling of letting go,
Going deep inside Deeply relaxed,
Deeply relaxed.
And nothing matters now because part of your mind has drifted away And part of you is enjoying that deep,
Deep relaxation.
And another part of your mind is now open to you You can access that part of your mind.
And when you are in this state,
Your mind can reveal its hidden power And you may be now aware of the power of your unconscious mind.
It knows more about your abilities And what you are capable of than your conscious mind does.
Your unconscious mind knows what resources you have It knows how you can use those resources to take back control of drinking alcohol.
That's right You are unconsciously aware of the resources you need to change your drinking habits And you can make your unconscious conscious.
That's right.
And I don't know how you are going to resolve this problem It could happen quickly or slowly.
Or whether you notice it happening at all.
Or when you notice it's all gone What I do know is your unconscious mind is ready to accept and act upon each suggestion that you are about to hear And each suggestion will go deep into your inner mind and they will have an immediate and permanent new life changing effect upon you Not because I say so,
But because you want it so.
Do you not?
And it's because you've been feeling uncomfortable about your alcohol intake That you are listening right now.
And you have already decided on a conscious level that it is time to reduce your alcohol intake And now we just need to reinforce your desire and your motivation to your unconscious mind to stick to your decision to make new lifelong healthy habits That's right.
Your body,
Your neurology knows the habit of the drinking.
And because it knows when you are about to drink alcohol It also knows how to change the habit and your unconscious mind,
Which knows more than the conscious mind,
Can change the drinking habit So you have less chance of drinking alcohol.
It's all up to you,
Is it not?
And to begin the change right now,
Repeat in your mind It's time for me to control my life.
I've got this.
It's time for me to control my life.
I've got this.
You have the skills,
Have you not?
That's right.
In the past,
The problem is that when you do drink,
You sometimes find yourself unable to stop after a reasonable amount And that is perfectly understandable because the first thing that alcohol attacks is your brain If you could stop drinking alcohol after you have reached your threshold,
For example,
Two or three glasses,
Then perhaps that would be ideal for you However,
Once you have consumed this amount,
Your mind has already gone into a different state of reality Where you just want to keep on drinking simply because it has been a habit you think you cannot break Think of all the negative effects that excessive,
Uncontrollable drinking of alcohol does to your life.
What does it take away from you?
And because you know the effects that alcohol has caused in your life,
You understand that for you,
Drinking has become a habit Rather than the occasional pleasure that perhaps it used to be,
And you say to yourself,
It's time for me to control my life.
I've got this.
You have made this decision and you know that you can use your own mind power to reinforce and sustain the decision Because you are determined you will succeed.
Will you not?
That's right.
And perhaps at times you have been feeling stressed,
Frustrated,
Anxious,
But you have now come to the conclusion that there are healthier,
More enjoyable ways to relax You also realize that alcohol is not really a reward,
But a way of impairing your natural,
Rational thought processes and deadening your emotional state Having alcohol at home made it easier and going out is convenient to drink,
And perhaps you often found yourself drinking even when you did not particularly want to drink because it is out of habit But you are not a slave to a habit.
You are a wonderful,
Unique human being and you are proud of all you have achieved so far in your life And you want to live longer and healthier so that you can add to your achievements and happiness,
To have more adventures,
To have better relationships with your family,
Friends,
And the special people in your life You are ready to take control of your life,
Take control of your drinking and become a healthier,
Happier,
Fitter you Take a moment and think of all the things that you gain when you reduce and control your alcohol,
All the things you can do to live your new life See what you see,
Hear what you hear,
Feel what you feel Get a real sense of this new life,
Being free of alcohol Let's imagine some time in the future you are at home Imagine yourself walking into your kitchen,
Visualise your kitchen in your mind And perhaps you are preparing to do some home cooking and normally you would pour a glass of an alcoholic drink while you cook Or perhaps you have a habit if after work you go home and sit down for an alcoholic drink,
Just bring to mind whatever else you do at that usual drinking time But this time it is different On this particular day you have not bought any alcohol,
Nor do you have any bottles in the fridge or anywhere else in your home You have taken control of your drinking and instead you pour a glass of something non-alcoholic,
Ice cold water,
A soft drink Or perhaps you juice up fresh fruit and vegetables and you really are looking forward to this drink Take a moment,
Imagine what you will have See yourself pouring this liquid into the glass Feel the glass chill from the icy non-alcoholic drink Lift the glass to your lips and take a sip Can you feel how refreshing it is?
It tastes delicious,
Better than any alcohol you have ever tasted It quenches your thirst and makes you feel refreshed and proud of yourself for making this new life long habit More than that,
It is healthy and unlike alcohol it is not poisoning your body and it won't numb your feelings or give you a headache or that awful groggy feeling when you wake up in the morning See and hear yourself enjoying the new refreshing healthy drink,
Taking slow sips and really savouring each one,
Feeling energized,
Refreshed,
Relaxed and calm And you do not miss alcohol one little bit,
You don't even think about alcohol and that old habit It was just a stage you passed through and now you see it for what it really is,
A poison that numbs and robs you of energy,
Money,
Time It takes your motivation to do more and be more in your life and your life is too precious to waste Which is why you decided to take back control and as you allow your unconscious mind to naturally see that new image of what it is like to live drinking non-alcoholic drinks,
Bring to mind how that would feel like See what you might be seeing,
Hearing and what you might be feeling that shows you are more calm,
Focused and in control Something you may once have thought would be difficult to do,
You now find is so easy Feel that sense of pride in yourself because you got this now,
You have taken back control of your life and in the unlikely event that your thoughts should ever wander towards having alcohol You simply remind yourself that you don't need alcohol and you simply say to yourself,
I control my life,
I've got this I don't need a glass of that toxic alcohol to relax or unwind,
That's right because from this moment on you have decided you can drink a healthy non-alcoholic drink instead and you are proud to do so You are proud of yourself because you have taken control of your life,
You are proud of the healthier,
Fitter,
Happier,
More relaxed and calm version of you You are proud of the you who looks after yourself because you know that you deserve to be healthy and happy At social events or special occasions you might decide to have a drink or you might decide to refrain from drinking or might only decide to drink only one or two days a week All this is easy to do because you are in control of your drinking and you simply say to yourself,
I control my life,
I've got this All this is easy to do because you are in control of your drinking and you simply say to yourself,
I control my life,
I've got this But if you do decide to have an alcoholic drink you are always mindful of why you want to drink,
If you do not really want that drink then you do not have it If you do you drink slowly tasting each sip,
Putting down your glass for long periods of time and enjoying the conversations,
The company and what you are doing in that moment And you can easily stay in control and perhaps drinking a non-alcoholic drink in between That's right,
There is no need to rush or keep up drinking with others,
You can easily drink moderately because you want to retain the feeling of health and wellbeing you have developed This is your positive choice because you and only you are in control of your drinking and your life,
It's all up to you,
Is it not?
You enjoy being sober,
You do not miss alcohol one little bit,
You do not need it anymore,
You have passed through that phase and come out at the other end You have taken back control and feeling consistently calm and relaxed,
Feel the pride in yourself Proud of the healthier you because you deserve to be healthy and happy And if anyone asks why you no longer drink much,
You remember the advantages of not drinking,
The investment in your health,
The feeling of being in control,
Being better off financially,
Relaxing without drinking Sleeping better,
Feeling clear and energized in the morning Developing a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle,
Having more harmonious relationships,
More focus at work All these things and more,
Feeling so much better now that you are in control of your life And this new lifestyle leads to you feeling wonderful,
Better and better with each passing day,
Healthier and happier,
Calm and in control And every time you listen to this recording,
Over the next few days and weeks,

Be it a traffic light,
The colour of a sign or clothing,
It will just seem to catch your eyes Over the next few days and weeks,
The colour green will be of significance to you,
It could be as small as a leaf or as large as a billboard The colour green will just seem to catch your eyes,
Every time you see the colour green,
It will reinforce all the positive things we have done here The colour green will increase your confidence that you will succeed and remain in control and reduce your alcohol for the rest of your life Green is the symbol of prosperity,
Freshness,
Progress and rebirth,
Now you will not have to look for the colour green,
You will simply just notice it automatically Each time you see the colour green,
You will become more in control,
That's right,
Every time you see the colour green,
You feel more confident,
Calm and more at peace You are successful with your new decision to remain calm and in control and reduce your alcohol for the rest of your life The colour green will just catch your eyes,
You may even see green where you never noticed it before,
Each time you see the colour green,
Consciously or unconsciously Your confidence,
Motivation and ability to be successful continues to grow,
Your thoughts are green with progress Think about giving your new ability to remain in control and reduce your alcohol,
The green light,
Allowing you to move on to greener pastures where every day,
In every way,
You are getting better and better And so knowing that your mind is taking care of your body,
You can continue to relax even more and allow yourself to drift even deeper Down and down into a deep,
Refreshing sleep It's time for me to control my life,
I've got this I am grateful for the choice to have control over my temptation I fall asleep without any alcohol I honour my body by choosing what is healthy for me I let go of my addiction to alcohol My recovery is giving me the chance to live the life I deserve I am a non-drinker,
All parts of my life are better Being a non-drinker has brought me close to my family and friends Temptation has no power over me My life is entirely under my control and I am so grateful for it Being free from alcohol addiction has tremendously improved my life I am no longer in need of alcohol I have decided that drinking alcohol is no longer beneficial to me I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life With every passing day,

I don't know if I've ever made it through a Lai session before falling asleep. Her technique is so relaxing and really unlike anything else I've experienced. Stellar every time!

This sleep meditation is both motivational and soothing. When I fall asleep I have renewed faith in the tools the universe has given me to overcome my addiction.
