Hello and welcome.
I am Julie Skon and in today's meditation you will be grounding your energy,
Deepening your mind and body connection through somatic practices,
And strengthening the balance of your foundation,
Your base,
Your root chakra.
Located at the base of your spine,
Your root chakra,
Name Mooladhara,
Is your first energy center.
It is responsible for how connected you feel to your body,
To the earth,
To that sense of feeling strong,
Secure and confident.
When your root is blocked or out of balance,
You can feel stressed,
Anxious,
Disconnected,
Literally unrooted from your core sense of self.
But when it is opened and flowing and aligned for you,
You feel that sense of being confidently grounded in your mind and body.
And from there we can begin to adventure on to and up through the rest of the chakras.
So let's start to go into this meditation for your root.
Together we're going to have a little adventure into nature,
Into the forest.
So as you get settled and comfortable in your space,
Begin to notice the length,
The depth,
The rhythm of your breathing.
Softly close your eyes and listen to the sound of your inhales and exhales.
Pausing for a moment to simply acknowledge how good it feels to take long,
Slow,
Sweet,
Deep breaths.
As you feel your body calming,
As you're starting to feel more connected to this moment,
Begin to visualize yourself outdoors in nature,
Someplace warm and comfortable.
Imagine yourself barefoot,
Walking on the soft ground,
The soil of the earth beneath your feet.
As you see yourself starting to take some steps,
You notice that the scene around you is not clear,
As if you're surrounded by a dense white fog.
But with each step forward and every breath you take,
This fog begins to lift.
The scene that starts to unfold is that you are standing in the midst of a beautiful,
Vibrant forest.
At first you notice the roots of giant trees,
Thick foliage in all shades of green,
Plants,
Flowers,
Climbing vines.
As you continue to slowly walk and explore this space,
You see leaves from the trees,
Branches reaching and connecting,
Intertwining with one another,
As if they are playing,
Communicating,
Supporting one another.
As you find a soft place to sit within this forest,
Place your feet on the ground in front of you,
Connecting to the earth,
Allowing your senses to become alive.
You hear the sounds of the birds,
You feel the wind touching your skin,
You notice the warm earth beneath you.
It's holding you.
With each breath,
Allow this warm energy to slowly rise up your body.
If there's any tension or a part of you that needs more love and attention,
Breathe more deeply into that space.
Inhaling this warmth,
Exhaling,
Releasing and letting any tension go.
Breathing first into the soles of your feet,
Feeling that energy rise up through your legs.
Noticing how you feel in your tailbone,
Your lower back.
Feel your abdomen rise and fall.
Guide this warmth up into your chest,
Your lungs,
Your heart.
Taking deep breaths and checking in once again with how you feel in this part of your body.
Allow this energy to touch your fingers,
Gliding up your arms into your shoulders.
Guide your breath up through your neck,
Your voice,
Your throat.
Feeling this warmth,
A release in your jaw,
Your face,
Your forehead,
All the way to the very top of your head.
Let's stay here for a moment.
Just taking a few more deep breaths.
Inhaling and exhaling as you embody the feelings of calm.
Remembering that the earth beneath you is holding you.
Bring your attention back into your root chakra,
Your tailbone.
As you guide your breath to fill this space,
Allow each inhale to open this energy center further.
And you're exhaling,
Releasing any blocks,
Any stagnant or stuck energy.
As this chakra opens for you,
Repeat these affirmations out loud or in your mind after me.
I am safe.
I am secure.
I am grounded in my body.
I am connected to myself and to the earth.
My mind and body are strong and are aligned.
Let's take one more deep inhale and audible exhale together as you slowly start to come out of this meditation.
Let's awaken your body with this new grounded energy that you have created by gently squeezing and releasing your muscles,
Reawakening your body.
Squeeze and release the muscles in your legs.
Roll your shoulders.
Gently sway and move from side to side,
Adding any movement that feels good for you right now.
When you are ready to open your eyes,
Take a moment to check in with these feelings of being mindfully grounded in your mind and body.
Notice how good it feels.
Even ask yourself,
Is there any more meditation?
Is there any more practice that you need to feel more grounded,
More rooted,
More aligned?
And as you go about your day,
If any feelings of disconnection from your mind or body arise,
As they do,
Return to this meditation or plant your feet on the ground and take slow,
Meaningful,
And gentle steps.
Feel your feet roll from your heel to your toes.
Guide your breath to your root and continue mindfully breathing until you feel yourself becoming more grounded and connected to this moment once again.
Sending you so much love and thank you for meditating with me today.
