Welcome to this guided meditation for tapping into the element of air.
This is a good meditation to do if you're feeling heavy,
Sluggish,
Or stuck when you need some energy and inspiration.
Air is the element of thought,
Ideas,
And creativity.
It feels light and bright and is the substance through which we connect to the web of everything.
So there's always a little bit of spiritual energy when we work with air.
Let's start in a nice comfortable seat.
I like this meditation sitting upright,
Maybe supported by a little cushion or prop so that it's easy to lift the chest.
Feel free to move around a little bit,
Even stretch,
Giving your body a chance to settle into this meditation.
It might feel especially good to reach your arms up into the air and really give your lungs a chance to open,
Letting some fresh air come deep into your body,
Into your lungs.
Take a few deep breaths as that feels right for you.
When you're ready,
Settle your hands.
You could turn the palms to face up on your lap,
Which is inviting of energy and brightness.
Imagine a circle of protection all around you in the form of a beautiful,
Bright light.
Set a clear intention that you are inviting energies of lightness,
Energy,
Creativity,
Inspiration,
And joy into this circle in alignment with the highest good of all.
Any energies that are not in alignment with the highest good simply cannot cross this light barrier.
Start with that intention to invite these best qualities of air,
Lightness,
Joy,
Inspiration,
Creativity.
Feel free to add anything to this list that you're feeling like you need from the element of air at the moment.
Feel the air around you,
Surrounding your body,
As well as inside of your body.
Imagine these qualities,
Filling the space between the molecules that are within and without.
Notice the color of joy,
Energy,
And inspiration.
Imagine the air around you and within you completely suffused with exactly the energies that you need.
Go ahead and take a deeper breath.
Fill your lungs with this fresh,
Bright,
Clean,
Energizing air.
Breathe in as deeply as you like,
Simply allowing your exhale to release from your body effortlessly.
Focus on your inhale,
Enjoying filling with breath and allowing your exhale to be both complete and also effortless.
There's no rush here.
No particular time you need to count to unless you want to.
Enjoy the simple pleasure of breathing in,
Drawing in those energies that you want to come into your body through your lungs.
As you continue to breathe,
Imagine that each inhale is making you a little lighter,
A little more buoyant,
As if you were filling a hot air balloon.
Feel the spaces between the molecules in your body very gently,
Softly expanding.
Imagine becoming so light that you actually begin to levitate,
Rising gently up into the sky like a helium balloon.
Feel yourself so light and spacious that you rise to exactly the level that's comfortable for you.
Perhaps that's an imperceptible lightness or a foot off the ground.
Maybe you imagine yourself resting on a fluffy cloud above your favorite place in the world,
Looking down,
Sailing the skies.
Or maybe you continue to float up,
Up,
Up into outer space.
Move to a space that feels good and safe and right for you,
That is pleasurable,
That you enjoy,
And where you still feel safe and connected.
Now let's remember our connection with the Earth,
The land,
The ground,
Your feet,
Or whatever it is that connects you to your day-to-day world.
Feel the weight of your body,
Its connection to gravity,
As perfect,
Exactly right,
Drawing you down to the ground again from your visit to the sky.
Allow there to be just enough connection to the ground,
But still plenty of contact with the lightness of the air.
You are already both light and grounded in exactly the right ratio for you today.
Notice how you feel now.
Check in with your energy in general,
Forehead,
Your cheeks,
Your chest.
Notice if you feel different in any way,
Having spent some time inviting the energizing qualities of air into your body through your breath.
If you feel in any way dizzy or ungrounded,
Place your palms face down on the Earth.
Remember your earthly qualities,
Bringing yourself back down to exactly where you want to be.
If you feel just right where you are,
Place your hands at your heart,
Or even up above your head if that's what feels good.
Then gently bow,
Thanking the Earth,
The land,
Sky,
Clouds,
The air,
The breath in your body.
Thank the element of air for brightening your day just a little bit today.
