An Appropriate Response

What’s an “an appropriate response?” I think of it as one that’s kind, compassionate, and wise – wise enough to remember how devastating it can be to forget we’re all in this together. Or to forget we have a justice system that gets to the truth, even if slowly, if only we us it. Thank you, Chief Justice Roberts.

So,

Finding your posture for this sit,

Something that is stable and will support you in coming to stillness,

Checking in with your body right now.

How are you feeling?

Where is there ease and relaxation?

Where is there tightness,

Holding back,

Holding of any kind?

And where that's present,

Seeing if there's just a little more ease available to you as you bring your awareness to the body and how it feels.

One,

Connected to the body,

Now connect with each other.

Just all of us sitting here together,

There are 41 of us all together,

All just sitting and breathing,

Just invite you to tap into the goodness of that,

The goodness of your own practice and the goodness of this small group of humans.

Just taking a few minutes to be together and breathe and tap into the goodness in one another.

And do that.

And make sure you place your own good heart inside this circle of goodness.

It's like we're forming a circle and we're all inside of it as well.

Doing this good thing,

This simple good thing of just sitting together and relaxing and breathing and finding the goodness in that and in ourselves and in each other.

Still just breathing and sensing into that goodness.

Small circle,

We don't want to close our circle,

So let's just let the sides of our circle,

The rim of it,

Dissolve and open the circle.

And then the invitation is just to take this with you into your day,

Whatever that looks like for you,

And notice how that goes.
