Crossing The Threshold

This is a simple and quick practice to help you bring into your awareness the thoughts, beliefs, anxieties and patterns that are holding you back. You will be supported in letting them go so that you can step forward freely. This practice can be used daily if you wish. It is also very effective in times of change and marking the movement of the seasons and the new year.

Trascritto

Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes.

Take a nice deep breath in through your nose,

Letting the breath swirl around your body and then release it through your mouth.

Take another deep breath.

Letting the breath move through every cell and release it again through your mouth.

Take one more deep breath,

Taking the breath deep into your body,

Releasing it through your mouth.

In front of you,

You will see a door.

It's a beautiful door.

It's ornate and elaborate and gilded and it's just full of light.

It's really inviting you in.

You are called forward and you stand before it and you take in the detail.

Your attention is drawn to the handle.

You put your hand on the handle and you open the door.

Before you is the lightest,

Most beautiful view.

It just brings you a sensation and feeling of contentment and calm.

You look down and there is a golden threshold.

You only need to step over it but something is holding you back.

It's on the edges of your awareness.

Invite it to come to the centre of your attention.

What would it take for you to leave this threshold and step forward without it?

Are you prepared to surrender it and move forward?

If you are,

It is time to release it,

To leave it at the threshold.

Lift a foot and hold it over the threshold.

Feel the energy and the invitation and allow yourself to step across.

Let the sensations wash over you.

You step forward and you turn around to look back through the door and you take the handle and you close the door.

You turn again and begin your journey.

When you feel ready to come back into the present moment,

Simply begin to breathe awareness back into your body until you feel fully within it and open your eyes.

That was surprisingly impactful for how short it was, thank you🙏✨️ I would've loved a longer session, or even a bit more space to contemplate what it was that was "pulling me back" and what it was that I was ready to leave at the threshold. But, I think after your beautiful journal prompt at the end, I reflected deeply on what it was and realised that what I was afraid of doing, was "showing me / sharing my essence". (Was I afraid of "me?")🤔 But I couldn't exactly leave me behind at the door, if I was the one walking through it!😅 But I realised, while briefly journaling afterwards, that I could leave my fear of being "me" behind, because the very idea of "me" & what others "think of me" (as my ego sees it, anyway) is an illusion - because there's no such thing as "me" or "they" or "them". There is ONLY "we" and "us". And sharing parts of me - my voice, my art, my contemplations on life - is for the collective shift towards unity and love, not division or concern or worry of safety, or survival. But for joy, for presence. For peace. And that's okay and NEEDED in the world, regardless of what others may think of me, or any of us who want to bravely share our light & our gifts with the world. And so it is ✨️🙏❤️

Really interesting, and kind of scary too. But what a lovely feeling, to feel a bit of release from those bugbears on my back. Your voice was lovely and reassuring, and I loved how you brought the meditation to a close...

Wow! Hard to believe this recording is only five minutes long. Despite its brevity and the simplicity of the exercise, it is remarkably effective. Not recommended for absolute beginners to meditation, but once you find a mindfulness practice you feel comfortable with, this might make an excellent intro to what you can do—and where you can go—with guided visualization. Truly first rate.
