Hi,
I'm Janelle and I will be guiding you through today's meditation practice.
The Pulse of the Plan meditation was designed for you to slow down and find ease in the present moment.
All you need for this practice is a quiet space and your favorite plant.
Make sure you will be undisturbed by external notifications for the next 5 minutes.
Find a comfortable seating position and settle in.
If you want,
You can already sit close to your plant as we will need it later.
Now close your eyes and allow yourself to arrive in the present moment.
Observe how you're feeling right now.
How does your body feel?
Does one side maybe feel differently than the other?
Do you feel stressed,
Agitated,
Tired or perhaps indifferent?
Whatever it is,
Just let it be and know that it is alright.
Now take 3 deep inhales and 3 even longer exhales.
All your worries,
To-dos and obligations can be part for now.
It's just you and your plant in this space,
In this moment.
Return to your normal breathing pattern and open your eyes.
If you have not done so already,
Sit next to your plant.
Put it between your legs if you want.
Now start observing your plant.
How big is it?
What body shape does it have?
Is it tall and slim or perhaps tiny with a cute belly?
What different shades of color does your plant have?
Does it have blossoms?
If so,
Are they blooming or still sheltered letting you wait in anticipation for their smile?
Now pick one leaf and pay attention with curiosity to every little detail you can see.
Let your eyes be magnifiers.
Connect with it as if you were to reconnect with an old friend calmly,
Choicely and compassionately.
What structure does this leaf have?
How does it feel?
Is it soft,
Smooth or maybe even a bit sticky?
Can you see the veins running through it?
Just like with us,
The veins transport essential nutrients to different parts of the plants that need them.
They are the pulse of the plant.
Observe how the veins lead to the stem.
What structural peculiarities are you discovering on the stem?
Tiny dots,
Fine lines or something completely different?
Whatever you observe,
Simply acknowledge it in the present moment.
Next to its absorption and transportation functions for water and nutrients,
The roots and stem build the backbone of the plant.
They ground it and support its upright position,
Much like our feet and backs do,
Our foundation.
Now reflect what makes your plant your favorite.
Is it the color?
The body shape?
Its overall being?
Does your favorite plant have a name?
If not,
Maybe you want to pick one now and say it out loud.
We have much in common with our plants.
We also come in different shapes and forms and require a home in which we can simply be.
Take the pulse of the plant as a reminder for the remaining of your day that you are blessed with being.
Give yourself and your plant a gentle smile.
Thank you for having taken the time to share your practice with me today.
Namaste.
