Welcome.
In this meditation we locate and abide in deeper levels of awareness.
We dive deeply into the depths of the ocean of awareness.
It feels like we've submerged beneath the waves of movement in our lives happening at the surface.
Residing here we find an inner common clarity of our natural mind that is always here and available.
This is a state that with practice you can learn to live from.
So we will practice that together now.
It's really important to prepare your body for this practice.
Ensure that you're in a quiet place for meditation and that you're in a comfortable seat at a good height or on a proper meditation cushion.
Check in with your posture.
Establish a posture that's conducive to awake alert meditation where you imagine a string attached to the top of your head pulling you gently upright.
Gently close your eyes and bring to mind your intention for this practice whatever that may be.
Carefully reflect on why meditation is important to you.
Why have you set aside this precious time for your practice and firmly establish that intention in your mind.
Now feel into your body.
Notice and feel the weight of your feet on the floor and your body in the chair or on your cushion.
Notice and feel how the ground is supporting you.
Allow your body to relax.
Allow your shoulders,
Hips,
Legs,
Eyes,
Cheeks,
Jaw,
Tongue all to relax.
If you can make an adjustment to just be 1% more comfortable,
Do that now.
Now take a few nice gentle breaths,
Breathing in love and compassion on the inhale and releasing any tension or stress on the exhale.
Begin by becoming very present with what's happening now.
Become aware of any sounds in the room,
Sensations on your body,
Space,
Air,
Light.
And notice how all these things are objects in your awareness.
Each one of these is something you are aware of.
So take a moment,
Make a turnaround and notice that that knows all these objects.
This knowing awareness or presence that is you,
Aware of every object,
Sight,
Sound,
Sensation.
And allow your awareness to unhook from your thinking mind behind your eyes where it usually is located and allow it to drop down into your heart.
So you have this sense of a heart centered awareness in your body and just feel and sense what it feels like to be centered in your heart.
Now sense and feel the room that you're in.
Just becoming aware of the space and just allow your awareness to fill and expand to the entire room.
And you feel and sense your awareness like a screen upon which everything happens in the movie.
And feel this clarity and openness,
An ocean of awareness in which everything is occurring.
So in this ocean of awareness in which everything is occurring,
Feel your body like sea grass rooted to the sea floor flowing and moving and sensations arise and pass away but the ocean stays constant.
There's a stability here in this ground or ocean of awareness.
Things may arise and fall like waves on the ocean.
So a sensation may arise in your body or a thought may come.
Just see them as waves that none of them ever stays.
There's a constancy to awareness that transcends any object that's arising within it.
It's before all objects and as the ocean you just allow these to come and go with no judgment,
No need to analyze or fix or change anything about this ocean.
Just be like sea grass rooted to the sea floor bending and flowing non-judgmentally with anything that floats by.
Just allow yourself to sink deeper down maybe breathing into the depths of your belly.
Again feeling how sensations arise and fall away and you stay rooted down to the sea floor.
Notice that awareness has no judgment about what's happening.
Able to simply be aware of every sensation,
Every thought,
This open clear nature of awareness.
This awareness is you.
You are that.
This means that you are clear.
You are open.
You are non-judgmental.
So just allow yourself to really feel this is your ground of being.
This place that doesn't need to judge what's happening to be okay.
There's a fundamental well-being here already present that's already whole and complete.
That is you.
That is your essential nature.
This knowing quality of you has an essential goodness and okayness.
This is your true nature and your true self.
And also notice as you're here grounded in your heart that there's a loving quality too.
See if you can feel this loving warmth at the center of your being.
And allow that to really land.
This is me.
This is who I am.
This is my true home.
Just allow yourself to look up from the depths of this ocean rooted in the center of your being.
And see how thoughts,
Feelings,
Sensation could arise like chop at the top of the ocean.
But from down here you have the ability to just let it be.
You do not need to engage with this chop.
Sure you're aware of it.
But you can just let things be.
Let the chop be.
From this inner knowing,
This centered core of who you really are.
There's an effortlessness here in just being rooted in your center at one or at flow with harmony of all life.
Just like the sea grass able to flow and move with the current.
Fundamentally well,
Fundamentally whole,
Fundamentally complete.
And when you are ready gently open your eyes a crack at a time with a soft gaze like a child viewing the temple for the very first time.
And see if you can retain this sense of wholeness,
This sense of completeness centered in open-hearted awareness.
Able to be with whatever is happening but rooted in your home,
Rooted in your core.
Then also take a moment to reflect on this meditation.
And if it's helpful write down or record anything that might be important for you to remember as this practice will help you see how your meditation practices develop over time.
My sincerest wish is that this meditation helps you remain connected to your own home,
Your own ocean of awareness and to become more awake,
More aware and more kind.
To know that you are never separate.
To know that you are fully supported in all that you do.
Thank you.
