
Your New Day
This morning meditation will leave you feeling awake to the infinite possibilities of the day. You will identify your desires and hopes for this new day and cultivate a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to embrace the day with energy, creativity, hope and a sense of freedom.
Transcript
A warm welcome to you this morning.
Settling now into a comfortable position and closing down your eyes if you like.
Letting the landscape of your awareness turn inwards to the gentle movement and melody of your inner world.
Bringing your attention now to your breath,
This gentle and constant life force within us.
Noticing the feel of the air as it enters your nose.
Noticing the feel of the air as it leaves your mouth.
Noticing the gentle rise and fall of your chest.
Noticing the soft expanse of your belly as the air moves in and out.
Noticing the way your body moves when you breathe.
Beginning your day with the beauty of mindful awareness.
As a new day dawns and the Sun wakes our natural world with its gift of warmth and light,
Can you also experience this sense of waking,
Of coming alive?
Enjoying a few deep intentional breaths now to really encourage this sense of waking and coming alive.
Inhaling deeply.
Exhaling deeply.
And with each inhale you are receiving fresh oxygen,
The gift of life.
And with each exhale there is an opportunity to let go of something that doesn't serve you today.
Perhaps you can let go of a worry or concern you have about today.
Is there a belief you hold about yourself that you could let go of in this moment?
Is there an old conflict or tension in a relationship that you could let go of as you prepare for today?
As you exhale imagining these worries,
Beliefs or tensions leaving your body,
Mind and heart.
Resting here for a moment or two,
Noticing any feelings of relaxation,
Peace or lightness that may be present as you cultivate this experience of letting go.
Returning your attention now to the fullness of your breath.
Noticing once more the qualities of your inhale.
Noticing once more the qualities of your exhale.
Perhaps even noticing the gentle pauses in between.
And with this gift of deep intentional breath it is like we are pulling back the covers from our body,
Mind and heart.
Allowing these precious parts of us to wake from their slumber.
Awake,
Alive and present to the infinite possibilities that are here for you today.
Now can you lengthen your inhale slightly imagining the air as filled with possibilities for greater awareness,
Choice,
Creativity and freedom.
This air that is filled with possibilities to see things differently,
To respond differently,
To interact with the world in new ways that make you feel light,
Happy and free.
With each inhale can you breathe these possibilities into your heart and your chest.
Can this sense of possibility move into your tummy,
Into your hips and pelvis.
This energy moving now down your legs,
To your feet and toes.
Feeling this sense of possibility,
Creativity and hope move across your shoulders,
Down your arms to your hands and fingers.
Allowing the essence of these possibilities to seep into your entire being.
Can you feel this sense of aliveness of being awake to this new day.
Resting here in this aliveness for a moment or two.
Awake,
Vibrant,
Aware.
Noticing once more your chest expanding with each new breath.
Noticing it expand at the front,
The back and the sides of your body.
This expansion in your body encouraging an expansion in your awareness,
An opportunity to interact in a different way with today.
And so I ask you,
What are your deepest desires for today?
Do you long for greater connection within yourself,
With others or the world around you?
Do you desire more joy,
Laughter and lightness?
Do you wish to move through your day with a sense of calm,
Peace and ease?
Maybe you want to be less critical and more accepting of yourself,
Others and your life as it is right now.
Perhaps you want to feel more love and less fear.
And so I ask you again and with a sincere heart,
What is your hope for today?
With one deep intentional breath,
Let's send this hope out into the day,
Letting its essence linger in your environment and guide you through your day.
Today is a painting yet to be painted,
A poem yet to be written,
A song yet to be sung.
And you are the painter,
The poet and the singer.
And these are your paintings,
Poems and songs.
What beauty do you wish to create today?
How can you bring to life this sense of creativity within you?
Now,
Can you offer yourself a smile of gratitude for all the possibilities that are today?
Can you feel grateful for this gift you are giving yourself right now?
This gift of a moment to pause and connect with yourself before the busyness takes hold.
A moment to hear the whispers of your heart,
To listen to that quiet voice inside you that knows what you need to feel happy,
Light and free.
Breathing in gratitude.
Breathing out gratitude.
If this sense of possibility and gratitude had a colour,
What would it be?
Breathing in this colour.
Breathing out this colour.
Imagining yourself now being surrounded by this colour.
It is holding you.
You are being held by this sense of gratitude and possibility.
And with this comes a sense of lightness,
Ease and freedom.
When you are ready,
Slowly deepening your breath.
Offering your body any movements it needs.
Gently you may open your eyes,
Awake and aware of the beauty of today.

I have been listening to Fleur’s meditations for a long time now. This is my new favorite. It’s paced well. I appreciated the prompts for visualizing my day and thinking about the color that represents gratitude for me. She gave time to breathe at my pace which was slow and deep. She has a soothing voice and a soft way of guiding a meditation. I am currently overwhelmed with the pace of my life and saddened by my relationship with a family member and this meditation helped me to consider the possibilities of this day feeling different and better-hopeful.
