Hello,
I'm Rhys Jones and welcome to this Sleep Talkdown and Lucid Dream Incubation recording.
Today I'll be guiding you through the process of relaxing your mind,
Preparing yourself for sleep,
And then,
Once your mind space has been softened,
Sowing the seeds for a lucid dream later on in the night.
In this particular recording,
The Sleep Talkdown theme will be Body Relaxation and Body Awareness,
And the Lucid Dream Incubation theme will be A Journey Through the Ancient Egyptian Pyramids.
Please note,
You're free to fall asleep at any part of this recording.
So,
When you begin to feel tired,
Don't hesitate to follow that feeling.
It may wash over you immediately,
Or it may not.
Either way,
Go with the feeling when it comes.
Do not wait for my permission to fall asleep.
Follow my words until you begin to feel drowsy,
At which point,
Allow yourself to let go and gently drift away.
And so,
To begin,
Please turn off all of your lights,
Lay down on your bed,
And get into a position that feels comfortable to you,
Either on your belly,
On your side,
Or on your back.
Whichever position makes you feel most relaxed,
Adopt it now,
And then make any final adjustments you need in order to feel fully settled.
For example,
Perhaps you'd like to apply some lip balm to make sure your lips are nice and moisturized.
Or maybe you'd like to fluff your pillow one last time.
Whatever brings you a sense of safety and ease should be done now.
If you haven't already,
You should now close your eyes and take a deep breath.
In and out,
And take another deep breath.
In and out,
And take a deep breath to settle into a normal rhythm,
Letting it do whatever it wants to do.
We'll now begin the sleep talkdown phase of this recording.
Softly shift your focus into the body,
Starting down at your feet.
Wiggle your toes if you need some help directing your focus there.
How do they feel?
Perhaps they're warm,
Perhaps they're cool,
Whatever you feel.
Lie with that feeling now,
Resting your attention on the sensations,
Feeling all there is to feel,
The subtle and the not-so-subtle alike.
Soak it all in,
Move your attention up from your feet to your legs.
As we change focus,
Let go of any remaining tension in your feet.
Let them fully relax.
Settle your focus into the legs,
Notice how they feel,
In the same way you just did with your feet.
Again,
If you need help focusing there,
Perhaps tense the leg muscles for a moment.
Then,
Let go.
Sense into your legs now and take note of the sensations.
What are you feeling?
Their weight,
Maybe?
Or the sensation of the bed beneath them?
Or their temperature?
Move your attention into these sensations now and softly inquire.
Now,
Shift focus from your legs up to your back,
Letting go of any remaining tension in the legs as you go.
Draw your attention up to the back by tensing the muscles for a moment,
Then relaxing them.
Do it again,
Tense them,
Then relax them.
Your attention is now settled on the back,
And you quietly observe the sensations.
What does your back feel like to you in this moment?
Here on the bed,
If you feel any aches or pains,
Acknowledge those signals as neutrally as you can,
And then give your body permission to heal.
This is,
After all,
What sleep is for.
Any remaining tension in the back is now leaving you,
And you migrate one last time upwards,
Into the neck and the head,
Observing the sensations that you find there.
Just like before,
If you need help focusing in this new spot,
Tense the neck muscles momentarily,
Then release them.
Tense,
Then release.
What do you feel?
What sensations are most noticeable to you?
Lie here with this awareness now,
And when my voice returns in a minute or two,
The lucid dream incubation phase will begin.
You are now in a supremely relaxed state,
Either sleeping or on the edge of sleeping,
And so we're ready to begin,
Incubating a lucid dream for later on in the night.
By following along with my words,
And visualizing them as you go,
You'll prime yourself to draw upon these very same images.
During REM,
There's no need to follow along strictly,
Just continue relaxing and allow my words to wash over you.
Whatever images come,
Come,
And even if you're now asleep,
Know that your subconscious will soak these words in and store them for later.
So,
Let's begin.
You come to,
At the base of a huge pyramid.
Looking up,
You're immediately struck by its size and you feel humbled by it.
The edges of the pyramid are shimmering blue and green and the light strikes you as holy in nature.
Back so soon,
Says a man,
Appearing by your side.
You turn to meet his gaze and feel once more humbled.
He looks exquisite and he smiles at you warmly.
Would you like me to show you around again?
Gesturing towards the pyramid,
He doesn't wait for a response,
Taking you by the hand instead and leading you into the pyramid's base.
Through a huge stone arch,
You sense an odd familiarity about this man.
Now inside the pyramid,
You look around.
The walls are covered in a grand mosaic design,
Colorful and dazzling,
Depicting events through history,
Celebrations and rituals.
Hieroglyphics border its edge.
It was hard work getting that done,
The man says lightheartedly,
Chuckling and pointing towards one wall in particular.
A job passed down through the ages.
He smiles again and you feel an unexplainable connection to him.
Who is this man?
You wonder.
Someone you know,
Surely,
Though currently you can't nail down exactly where from.
Oh,
And there's more,
He says,
Walking towards a grand spiral stone staircase.
You follow,
Eagerly.
After traversing the spiral staircase,
You leave through a side door and the man explains that you're now in the center of the pyramid.
This new room is even grander than the last,
With huge ceilings and a staggeringly vast space to walk around in.
This is where I was birthed,
The man explains,
His voice echoing,
Pointing towards an altar.
And here I shall be born again.
You notice a hole in the wall where a beam of moonlight now penetrates into the room and illuminates the altar.
A tingle washes down your spine and your eyes,
Fill with water.
How beautiful,
You think,
Transfixed.
But the journey doesn't end there.
After showing you the altar,
The man now ushers you back into the stairwell and up further still,
Trekking closer and closer towards the tip of the pyramid.
You walk for what feels like 15 minutes and,
Just as you begin to feel tired,
He stops and turns your attention towards one last door.
I must tell you now that what I'm about to reveal could be surprising,
Surprising.
The man says,
You feel nothing but excitement,
Nodding,
Indicating that you are indeed ready for whatever it is.
The man nods back and then,
With a great heft,
He pushes open the last door,
Slowly creaking and scraping along the stone floor as it goes.
And with that,
You're welcomed into the tip of the pyramid,
The golden pinnacle,
The final room.
There's a softness in the air here,
A soft yet mysterious vibe that emanates through the entire room,
From left to right,
From top to bottom.
Everywhere you wander,
The feeling follows you,
As does the man,
Who now seems keen to show you something else,
Or maybe tell you something more.
Here,
He says,
Gesturing around the room to no one place in particular.
Here,
I hope you understand what all of this is,
What all of this was.
His words stop short,
You know,
I don't show everyone this place.
And for a moment,
His words simply hang and the silence falls pregnant.
But then a bolt of realization strikes you,
And you understand what he means.
Of course,
We're dreaming,
You say,
Speaking for the first time since meeting the man.
He smiles and nods.
That's right,
He says.
And now the real fun begins.
Ancient dreamers,
Awaken.
