Welcome to 2 minutes of self-gentleness with Femke.
You said you would do something.
Or be something.
And you didn't.
Or you weren't.
And now there's that uncomfortable feeling of disappointment that follows you around.
It's not someone else's disappointment,
It's yours.
And this kind of feeling is harder to soothe because you were the one who expected something.
And you were also the one who fell short,
Both at the same time.
So,
What I want to give you here is not encouragement,
Not like,
You'll do better next time.
I just want to say this.
The fact that you feel this says something real about you.
You care.
You hold yourself to things.
You have values that matter to you.
And that's not the problem.
The problem is the part that you add some cruelty to your disappointment.
And that part we can soften.
So,
Listen to my voice when I speak these affirmations,
And if you want,
You can repeat them after me.
I can be disappointed without punishing myself.
Caring about how I show up is not the same as failing.
I'm allowed to fall short and still be worthy of my own gentleness.
I can learn from this without using it against myself.
I'm in process.
I've always been in process.
I am still on my own side.
Now sit with this for a moment,
And perhaps repeat the track again.
Because you can come back to this any time,
When that nagging feeling of disappointment gets too strong.
Because you deserve better than that.
You deserve your own gentleness,
No matter what.
