Hello friends,
This is Femke.
I'm here today with the practice to support your recovery from physical discomfort.
I know,
It's really no fun to be ill.
Whether you feel just a bit under the weather,
Or you have a strong flu,
Or worse,
When you feel ill,
You wish for only one thing,
To feel well again.
And the best way to support your recovery is to be kind and loving to yourself.
By pushing against the unwanted,
Against the illness and the pain and discomfort that you experience,
You will not feel better.
So with this practice,
I will help you to support yourself in your recovery process,
Even when that process will take some time.
And the crucial element here is that you will have to find a way to start to feel a little bit better,
A little bit more relaxed.
So that you can take all the time you need to recover.
Okay,
Let's start.
You can either sit up or lie down.
If you sit up,
Make sure you sit comfortably and easy.
But when it feels easier and more comfortable,
It's perfectly fine if you lie down.
And if you start to feel sleepy,
Or you actually fall asleep,
No worries.
You are here to help yourself recover.
And sleep is nothing more than a gift,
A true gift for that healing process.
Make sure that you are lying comfortable.
And feel if there is any tension in your body.
And if there is,
Shift a bit and try to relax.
Now gently close your eyes.
Put both your hands on your lower belly.
And bring your attention to your breath.
Your natural,
Normal breath.
As it is.
Your natural,
Normal breath.
As it is.
Notice how the breath flows into your belly,
Pushing your hands up.
Notice the natural rise and fall of your breath.
In and out.
Now see,
Notice how your body does its job.
Perfectly.
Your heart beats.
Your lungs take in oxygen.
And make sure it cleans out your body.
This wonderful,
Beautiful body of yours,
Which works like a perfect natural chemistry factory.
Arranging for food to digest.
Nutrients to be stored.
Or used.
Your body knows so well what to do.
Have you ever noticed how quickly a wound will close?
How your body immediately comes into action to stop the blood flow and heal the skin?
It's remarkably beautiful.
Your body.
And notice your breath.
The natural flow of your breath.
The rising and falling of your breath.
In and out.
Now imagine you are pulling up very slowly a soft,
Light sheet.
Or blanket.
Over your body.
Start at your toes.
And very slowly.
Feel how the sheet covers your toes.
Your instep.
Your ankles.
And how it rests there for a moment.
Now gently pull it up over your shins.
And feel the pleasant weight of the sheet.
How it slides over your shins and up over your knees.
If you feel any tension,
Be aware of it.
Let it go.
Shifts if necessary.
Now pull the sheet more up and cover your thighs.
Slowly,
Slowly pull it up over your pelvis.
All the way up.
And let it rest on your lower belly.
And from there,
Pull it up over your ribs.
Your chest.
And feel how the blanket covers your hands.
Your wrists.
Your arms.
Your shoulders.
And pull it up to your neck.
Feel relaxed.
Notice your breath.
Natural.
Normal.
In and out.
Imagine a beautiful warm golden light trickling up from down your feet all the way up to the crown of your head.
Imagine this healing light starting at your feet.
Completely filling your feet and up through your ankles.
Up through your calves.
Knees.
Your thighs.
All the way up to your pelvis.
Feel how the light is filling your buttocks.
Your lower belly.
Filling your belly with this warm,
Beautiful,
Healing light.
Filling up the spine,
Your back.
All the way into your chest.
Your shoulders.
Into your arms.
All the way down into all fingers.
Maybe you can imagine the light shooting out of your fingers.
And where light flows into your neck,
Your jaws,
Cheeks,
Nose and forehead.
Filling up your skull with light.
And then see the light shooting out of the crown of your head.
Notice your breath.
Natural.
Normal.
In and out.
Your beautiful,
Resilient body is filled with this healing light.
Feel relaxed.
Feel at ease.
Feel the rise and fall of your breath.
This is your body that knows what to do.
The only thing you need to do is to let it do its job.
So relax.
Trust your body.
It knows what it needs to do.
If you experience any discomfort in your body,
Or any pain,
Just bring your attention to that place in your body.
Your full attention,
Like a laser beam of light.
Bring this very focused beam of light of attention to the discomfort.
And know it's okay.
It's okay to feel discomfort.
You don't have to fight it.
You don't have to judge it.
It's simply there.
See if you can observe it.
Your full attention to it.
And know it's okay.
This is your body's way to say,
Hey,
Over here is something going on.
Your body tells you to take this as a cue for you to relax and let your body do its job.
You don't need to get into action.
You don't need to work hard to get better.
You don't need to push against any discomfort.
Just let it be.
Relax,
Rest,
And trust the innate power of your body.
Let your body heal you.
Allow yourself the time to recover.
Rest,
Eat healthy,
Drink enough water,
And relax.
Do whatever feels good to you to do now.
This is recovery.
Notice your breath.
A natural flow in and out.
And while you lie here,
Noticing your breath rising and falling,
Listen to these affirmations.
You can say them with me,
Or you can just listen to them.
My body knows what to do.
It knows how to heal.
It knows how to recover.
The only thing I need to do is to step out of the way and to allow my body to do its thing.
I'll rest.
I'll relax.
I will feel good.
I will take the time I need to recover.
And I will allow my body to do its job.
My body knows what to do.
If you like,
You can keep your eyes closed.
If you want to fall asleep,
You can start to count your breath.
Count one when you breathe in.
Count two when you breathe out.
Breathe in and count three.
Breathe out and count four.
Count all the way up to ten and then start over again by counting at one when you breathe in.
And you can continue this practice until you fall asleep.
But if there's any reason that you want to stay awake,
Then please take some time to open your eyes.
Take some time to stretch and get up really slowly.
But if you want to fall asleep,
Breathe in and count one.
Breathe out and count two.
Breathe in and count three.
Breathe out and count four.
Count all the way up to ten and then start over by counting your breath until you fall asleep.
And for now,
Take care and feel well soon.
In gratitude and with love.
Until next time.
