Sermon On The Mount, Matthew 5-7: Your 8-Minute Bible

The Sermon on the Mount is one of the most influential teachings in human history because it speaks not only to what we do, but to the kind of people we are becoming. In these teachings, Jesus invites us beyond surface level religion and into a deeper life shaped by mercy, humility, reconciliation, trust, integrity, forgiveness, and love. This series is designed to help you slowly and prayerfully engage these passages through short moments of scripture, silence, reflection, and contemplation. Lección 1: Matthew 5:1–11

Lección 2: Matthew 5:13–20

Lección 3: Matthew 5:21-32

Jesus moves beneath outward behavior and into the deeper realities of anger, desire, reconciliation, and fidelity. This session invites us to examine the condition of our hearts and consider how genuine transformation begins from within.

Lección 4: Matthew 5:33-48

In one of the most challenging sections of the sermon, Jesus calls his followers beyond retaliation and toward radical love. We reflect on honesty, nonviolence, generosity, and the surprising invitation to love even our enemies.

Lección 5: Matthew 6:1–18

Jesus shifts from relationships with others to our relationship with God. Through teachings on giving, prayer, and fasting, we explore a spirituality rooted in sincerity rather than performance and learn from the enduring wisdom of the Lord’s Prayer.

Lección 6: Matthew 6:19–34

Jesus addresses some of our deepest fears about security, possessions, and the future. Through powerful images of birds, flowers, and treasure, we consider what it means to seek first God’s kingdom and live with greater trust and freedom.

Lección 7: Matthew 7:1–14

This session explores Jesus’ warnings about judgment and his invitation to mercy, humility, and trust. As we reflect on the narrow gate and the wide road, we consider what kind of life truly leads to flourishing and spiritual maturity.

Lección 8: Matthew 7:15–29

Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount by calling us to discernment and action. Through the images of fruit-bearing trees and wise builders, we are reminded that the goal of discipleship is not simply hearing Jesus’ words but building our lives upon them.
