Welcome to this short meditation which is all about reconnecting with yourself,
Your deepest sense of intuition,
Your heart.
So go ahead and find a comfortable position that you can sit in for this meditation.
This may be on the ground cross-legged or with your back supported against the wall and feet straight in front or perhaps on a chair or edge of a sofa with the soles of your feet placed on the ground.
Sit however is comfortable for you and be sure that this is an effortless position and you can adjust your position as often as you need to to ensure that you are in absolute comfort.
And before you close your eyes just take a look over your left shoulder turning your chin towards the left and then turn your gaze all the way across your body to the right turning your chin towards your right shoulder and then bringing your chin back to center looking out straight ahead now that you have taken a look around the physical space that you're in getting accustomed to it.
Whether it's a place that you visit every day or a new place.
And when you're ready you can go ahead and slowly begin to let your eyelids become heavy and close down.
Maybe today you only want to go about 90 percent down so let's go ahead and let your eyes become heavy and close down.
Maybe today you only want to go about 90 percent down so that a sliver of light remains but your gaze is still blurred.
Or you may feel comfortable closing your eyes completely.
So just go ahead and do whatever feels right for you today.
And just keep your hands in a comfortable position whether that's resting on your knees,
Palms down or up or in your lap.
There's nothing specific that you need to do with your hands.
And you can place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth right behind your front two teeth and just let it gently rest there for the duration of our practice.
Now just briefly scan your body starting at the top of your head and scan over the front of your face beginning with your forehead and noticing any tension that may be held in these areas of your body.
And wherever you find a spot of tension,
An area of congestion,
Just say to the body of congestion,
Just say to that space I give you permission to relax and just see from a place of curiosity what can be let go.
So move from your forehead to the space around your eyes.
Let that relax.
Move down to your jaw.
See if there's anything that's just waiting to be let go.
Move down your neck,
Your shoulders,
Your chest,
Your abdomen,
Your belly.
Lots of emotions and stress can be held in the belly so give that a moment to release and let go.
There's no more holding on and there's nothing that you need to control.
Let this be the one part of your day where you don't need to do anything.
Notice any tension in your hands and let that go.
Your hips,
Your knees,
All the way to the soles of your feet and all ten toes.
Let any parts of your body that are just waiting to let go of all the tension they've been gripping onto you,
Everything they've been holding on to you.
Let it go.
Of all the tension they've been gripping onto you,
Everything they've been holding on to you,
Let it go.
Now bring your awareness back up to your chest,
Noticing the rise and the fall as your breath just flows effortlessly.
And what we'll do now is we'll just take a few big breaths which I will cue and you'll be breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth and we'll be holding at the top under the nose.
And we'll be holding at the top and at the bottom.
To do your best to stick with my counts.
Exhale all the air out and then draw a big breath in through your nose into your belly.
Let that breath move up into your chest all the way up to your collarbone and holding it there for three,
Two,
One.
And exhaling letting everything go out through your mouth,
Big release.
Exhale as long as you can and even a moment longer than you think.
And then you hold for three,
For two,
And one.
Drawing a big breath in again in through your nose,
Fill up your belly like a balloon.
Let that breath move all the way up into your chest expanding your rib cage 360 degrees and you're holding there once again for three,
Two,
One.
Release let it all go out through your mouth.
Extend and empty out all the breath in your lungs,
All the breath in your lungs,
Letting that stale residual air out.
And then holding for three,
Two,
And one.
Last one here breathing in through your nose,
Into your belly,
Up into your chest.
This time swallow at the top as you hold that retention for three,
Two,
One.
And audible exhale all the way out.
Once that's complete you can allow your breath just to move effortlessly,
No more control.
And just notice anything that's shifted within your body,
Anything that has cleared out,
Anything that is now moving freely,
Or perhaps areas that are asking for extra care and attention.
This is an exercise of tuning in and listening to all of the wisdom and the messages that our body is whispering to us.
But so often we don't hear because we're so focused on the external voices,
The external pressures.
So this is a time where we give ourselves permission to land back within ourselves.
And our home is right in the center of our chest.
So let your awareness now drop from the center of your head down through your throat into the center of your chest.
Can you feel without moving and touching anything,
Can you feel the pulsing of your heart?
Can you feel the pulsing of your heart?
Sending oxygenated blood throughout all the highways of your body,
Bringing this incredible life force that allows us to be.
And once you can feel that pulsing of your heart,
Let your awareness surround that space.
Let yourself sit right outside your heart.
Right outside your heart.
And you can go ahead and ask your heart permission to enter.
And you may want to repeat that respectful request once or twice more so the message is heard.
And just pause in a place of no expectations.
No judgment and listen.
Listen to what your heart is allowing you to do today.
Maybe you get a resounding yes,
Come in.
Maybe it's yes,
But only this far.
Or maybe it's no,
I need you to stay outside my door today.
Whatever that answer is,
Heed the requests and desires of your heart.
Respect it.
Be in communion in your heart and take refuge in whatever space it's given you permission to be today.
And now ask your heart what does it need?
What is it yearning for?
What is it deprived of?
What is your heart's deepest desire?
And just listen for a few moments.
And just listen for a few moments.
Take note of what your heart has shared with you today.
And if it was silence,
If it felt like nothingness,
That is okay.
This is a practice that you can repeat several times throughout your day,
Many times in any week,
Coming back to this place again and again.
And over time as you practice,
You will develop this dialogue with your heart.
And that line of communication will become clear so that you can tune into your heart's deepest desires and bring that into your waking life in the moment.
So you can reconnect that highway from your heart to your head,
Which so often we cut off.
So often we are just operating from the shoulders up.
And that's only a recipe for long-term misery,
Dissatisfaction,
Depression,
And frustration.
We need to open that channel from our hearts and bring these two parts of ourselves in union.
Think your heart,
No matter what permissions it gave you today,
No matter what messages or silence it gave you today,
Think it.
Think it and move out of that space.
Move out of that space back through your throat,
Up into the center of your brain,
Registering those requests from your heart and your memory,
Putting it into the blueprint of your next actions that you may take in these next hours,
Days,
Weeks,
Years.
Go ahead and take a big breath in and fill all the way up and let it go.
And let that breath as it deepens,
Begin to inspire awareness throughout your body.
Before even opening your eyes,
Can you visualize the space that you're in?
As you begin to bring tiny movements into your fingers and your toes,
Circling out your wrists and your ankles,
Maybe your neck and your shoulders,
Let this movement be natural coming from within.
Let this movement be natural coming from within.
And then very slowly,
You can begin to sliver your eyelids open,
Letting that light begin to cast through the curtains of your eyes and slowly,
Slowly taking whatever time you need.
Open your eyes fully and bring your awareness back into that physical space,
That familiar space that you're in.
Remembering where you are.
I invite you to note down or journal on anything that you heard today,
Any insights that surfaced,
Any actions that clarified for you.
Let this be a practice of tuning back in to yourself.
Thank you for taking time for you.
And I hope that you're able to walk into the rest of your day or evening and week with a renewed connection with your intuition and with your heart.
