Hi,

My name is Em,

And welcome to this practice for finding safety and ease from within yourself.

This practice has been designed with yoga nidra and rest techniques that are aimed to develop the sense of no matter what life throws at you,

You can bring yourself back to an inner sense of well-being.

This works via neuroplasticity of the brain and being in a restful state.

So,

Begin to settle in.

Consider supporting your body by maybe bringing in an eye pillow,

Or supporting your back or your knees.

And close down the eyes or take a soft gaze and just begin to notice the sounds in your environment.

You may notice the layers of sounds.

Begin to notice where you feel the natural breath in your body.

It may be your chest,

Nostrils or your abdomen.

And just tune in to this natural rhythm of your breath.

This is your inner rhythm.

Just allow this to unfold in your awareness naturally and with ease.

Begin to notice whether there's any expression on your face and just release that,

Allowing the corners of your mouth to soften.

And bring your awareness to your throat centre.

Noticing any sensations here at your throat centre.

Your heart centre.

Left of your chest.

Right chest.

Both arms.

Noticing the sensations in both of your arms together.

Almost as if you could split your awareness as you notice your arms.

Both hands.

Drift your awareness down to your navel centre.

The whole pelvis.

Imagine you can split your awareness again and notice both legs separately,

But together in your awareness.

Both feet.

The whole back of your body.

The whole back of your body,

Allowing your awareness to absorb the sensations in the whole back of your body.

Now the front of your body.

And now the body resting as a whole.

Just imagining you could sense your entire body and the energy of your body as you rest back deeper into the rest.

And now place your awareness on your heart centre once more,

Allowing yourself the moment to fully absorb your awareness into your heart centre.

Be filled with this nurturing space.

And now bring your awareness all the way to the back of your heart.

Not the front where you may feel surface level sensations,

But the back of your heart centre.

This deep energetic space where acceptance,

Ease,

Peace and openness rests.

Notice if you feel any sensations here in the back of your heart that feel easeful or balanced.

It may simply be the absence of sensation or a spaciousness that you feel here.

Just notice.

And now notice if any visuals or words are presented to you here by your intuition as you sense deeper into this spaciousness of the back of your heart.

It may be you're presented with a blanketing sensation or a softening like warm water on your skin.

Just notice.

Your intuition may be guiding you to a texture or a colour that feels safe and expectationless.

Just allow yourself to notice how this spaciousness and ease and sanctuary unfolds as you rest back to the back of your heart space.

Your open energetic heart.

You may be sensing just a light breeze of a sanctuary here,

And that's okay.

Just notice the tone of the sensation of sanctuary,

However transient and without judgement.

Just noticing,

Offering just simple awareness.

And allow this sanctuary in the back of your heart to soften around any sensations or emotions that come up.

It's very normal to experience resistance,

So just allow the sensation of sanctuary to hold whatever sensations arise.

Just notice,

Imagining that this sanctuary of openness and ease is a container for your sensations.

A safe container where they can be felt and noticed with lightness and ease.

And now allow the sensation of sanctuary for permission to move through your body,

Whatever the size or depth of the feeling tone that you have here.

Simply offer it permission for this sanctuary feeling tone to drift around from your heart space to wherever it's needed.

Imagine this feeling tone of sanctuary moving through your body like a light breeze.

Notice how the sensation flows or even remains at your heart space here as you rest even deeper,

Cocooned by the simple act of awareness.

And now bring your awareness back up to your third eye centre in the centre of your forehead,

And allow yourself to rest for just a moment more in this experience you have created for yourself today.

This simple intention of practicing today is a loving gesture that you have given to yourself,

So bask here in that for just a moment more.

And as you rest here,

Just know that you can access the feeling tone of sanctuary whenever you need.

Just feeling into the back of your heart space,

Your energetic heart space,

Or wherever it feels like the home of sanctuary lives in your energetic body.

And the more you access this state of deeply resting in your soothing inner sanctuary,

The more neural pathways leading to this state will be created and it will become a natural way of self soothing.

Allow your awareness now to extend beyond the body and back into the environment around you.

Take a really deep breath in through your nose,

And as you do see if you can pick up any hint of aroma or fragrance in your environment.

Take another deep breath and see if there are any more fragrance or aromas that you can pick up.

And now begin to notice the sounds in your environment beyond my voice,

Feeling into your body resting on the support beneath you.

And whenever you're ready,

Bring some small movements back into your body.

You may wish to bring your hands to your chest and feel into a sense of gratitude to yourself for practicing today and allowing yourself this space to rest.

And when you're ready,

You may wish to bring in some bigger movements.

Maybe you want to stretch or move your toes,

Whatever feels the most wakeful for you.

And when you're ready,

You can open your eyes and give your eyes a moment to adjust back into your waking life.

And once your eyes have adjusted,

Just allow your vision to soften,

Noticing what's in your periphery,

Just as your mind adjusts back to being awake.

And your yoga nidra practice is now complete,

So whenever you're ready,

Take time to ease back into your waking life and take as long as you need to come back into the room.

And if you've enjoyed this practice today,

I would really love to hear about your unique experience of the safe sanctuary and how that felt for you.

Or if you have any questions,

Then I'm more than happy to answer them.

Just leave them in the comments.

And I thought I'd take a moment to let you know that I have started doing live yoga nidra practices,

So you don't need to think about picking a particular practice.

You can just show up on the time and the date and receive the practice of the topic that I'm doing that week.

So if you would like to join me live on yoga nidra practice,

I am doing those over on Insight Timer using the same name as I use here,

But I will also link below so that you can join my live streams.

They are free or pay what you can,

But it's free to enter,

So I would really like to see some of you there.

And when you're ready to practice next,

I'll be here.

Take care.
