Bedtime Ritual 70
by Alon Ferency
Each small act—a story, a lullaby, a whispered prayer, a shared giggle—becomes a thread in the fabric of belonging. As evening settles, this gentle rhythm gathers what the day has worn thin and invites release. Breath softens, the body listens. What can be set down is set down. The ritual opens the ancient liturgy of the Bedtime Sh’ma, joining a timeless chorus that affirms the oneness of all being and the enduring presence that holds the universe. Sacred words mark the passage from doing to resting, from effort to trust. Angels of peace take their places: Michael before us, Gabriel behind us, Uriel to our right, Raphael to our left, forming a quiet canopy of protection. We imagine being carried on eagles’ wings, held by a strength beyond our own. God becomes a shield, spreading shelter and peace as night descends. In this tender threshold, the bedtime ritual becomes a sanctuary of safety, trust, and renewal—an evening boundary that steadies the heart and readies the soul for rest.
