Hello and welcome to this beautiful spring sunlight body scan.
So take a moment to arrive and settle.
Settle into a comfortable position either lying down or seated with your spine supported.
Allow your hands to rest softly and let your eyes close when you're ready.
Begin by taking a slow deep breath in and a long gentle breath out.
And repeat that if that felt good.
In through the nostrils and then out either through the nostrils or through the mouth whichever feels right for you in this moment.
Let your body know that this is a moment of ease.
Imagine you are standing at the start of a new spring morning.
The air is soft,
The world is quiet and the first warm rays of sunlight are beginning to stretch across the landscape.
This sunlight is gentle,
Nourishing and patient just like the energy you're inviting into your body today.
So let's begin our scan.
Bring your awareness to the top of your head.
Imagine a warm beam of spring sunlight touching this area,
Soft,
Golden and comforting.
As the light lands feel it melting away any tightness or heaviness.
Let the sunlight move slowly across your forehead.
If there's any tension imagine it softening like frost dissolving under the morning warmth.
Allow the light to drift down to your eyes.
Let those small muscles around the eyes relax.
Your jaw loosen,
Your tongue relax and your whole face softens under this gentle spring glow.
Now guide the sunlight down to your neck.
Feel it warming the sides of your throat,
The back of your neck,
The space where you often hold stress.
Feel the light expand across your shoulders.
Imagine the warmth encouraging your shoulders to drop and soften.
Let the sunlight melt away any tightness,
Slowly,
Patiently like ice softening into water.
Allow the sunlight to travel down your arms.
First the upper arms,
Then into the elbows.
That warmth expanding into the joints,
Down into the forearms.
Feel the warmth moving all the way into your hands and fingertips.
Imagine each finger softening,
Opening,
Releasing.
Arms become heavy,
Relaxed and supported.
Allow the sunlight to radiate into your chest.
Let it rest over your heart space.
Warm,
Bright and gentle.
With each inhale imagine the light expanding.
With each exhale imagine it clearing away anything that feels heavy or stagnant.
Let this area feel open,
Spacious and nourished.
Allow the sunlight to move around your ribcage.
Feel it warming the sides of your body,
The spaces between each rib.
Let your breath deepen naturally as this area softens.
Now bring the light to your upper back.
Imagine it soothing the muscles along your shoulder blades and releasing any tightness you've been carrying.
Guide the sunlight down to your stomach.
Let it warm your abdomen,
Relaxing the muscles and softening your breath.
Allow the light to wrap around your lower back.
This area that so often holds tension.
Let those rays of light linger here.
Feel it loosening and warming and releasing.
Allow the sunlight to radiate into your hips.
Imagine it gently warming the joints,
Softening the muscles,
Creating space.
Let the light move into your pelvis,
Your glutes,
Your lower belly.
Allow the whole area to feel grounded and supported.
Now gently guide the sunlight down to your legs.
Starting with the thighs,
The upper legs.
Feel it soothe those big muscles.
And then down into the knees.
Soothing those knee joints.
And then let it flow into the shins and the calves.
Feel the warmth travelling slowly,
Steadily,
Releasing tension as it goes.
Bring the sunlight all the way down to your feet.
Let it warm the tops of your feet,
The soles,
The heels and the toes.
Imagine any remaining tension flowing out through the soles of your feet.
Down into the earth where it can be absorbed and transformed.
Your whole body now bathed in gentle spring sunlight.
Soft,
Renewed and a long gentle breath out.
Feel the spaciousness in your body.
Feel the warmth you have created.
Feel the sense of renewal like the first signs of spring rising within you.
When you're ready begin to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Gently bringing movement back into your body.
When it feels right for you,
Slowly opening your eyes and carrying this warmth with you into the rest of your day.
