Hello,
Sweet beings,
Welcome to this space together.
I'm so happy that you've arrived to share a mindful moment with me listening to a story.
And when we listen to this story,
We're going to try to relax our bodies.
So I want you to get comfortable.
I want you to lay down or sit down,
Grab a blanket or a pillow,
Or maybe a stuffed animal or another,
Another sweet being and cuddle in.
You may try to open up your ears and maybe close your eyes.
We're going to listen to the words as we become really still in the body.
Once you're there,
Once you're ready,
Let's do this.
Let's take a big breath in together.
And then let it go.
Good.
The story begins with a little small child finding a big cup of coffee.
I found a cup of coffee in a big old yellow mug.
It was resting on the table that sits on the turquoise rug.
So I climbed the wooden chair and my toes they dangled down,
Put my hands around the edges and I took a look around.
There was no one there to drink it,
No one there to claim it too.
Who'd have thought they'd think to leave it?
What's a little kid to do?
Well,
Of course I had to savor just a little of its flavor.
Yep,
A sip,
A drip,
A taste.
I couldn't waste the middle layer.
Then before I knew what happened,
All the coffee in the cup made its way into my belly.
Yes,
I drank the whole thing up.
And my eyes began to widen and my hands began to shake and my heart was beating faster than that time I saw a snake.
My feet began to tap the little pole under the table and my knees began to wobble.
I was feeling quite unstable and unstoppable heroic.
I was strong and big and bold.
There were things that needed saving.
So I leaped,
I tucked,
I rolled.
In just seconds,
I was flying like a rocket around the moon and the zoom that I was zooming made a boom inside the room.
My mother heard the ruckus,
Came a running down the hall.
With a worried,
Hurried look,
She turned the corner past the wall.
I was seated on a cushion,
Top of the floor with both eyes closed.
Yes,
My back was straight,
My legs were crossed into a yoga pose.
I thought I had her fooled.
I was calm and cute and still.
She had sighed a sigh of deep relief and believed me up until.
I couldn't stop the ticking of my fingers on my thigh and my body started rocking to a song inside my mind.
I was dancing on that pillow.
I was swinging to and fro.
And at first she started laughing,
But a mother always knows.
Took a peek upon that table,
Then she glanced right back to me.
Mom shook her head,
Led me to bed and said to go to sleep.
I laid there close to midnight and just couldn't rest at all.
So I had a little party with the shadows on the wall.
Now,
When morning came,
A funny thing,
It actually was noon.
And mom walked in with a crooked grin,
Some coffee and a spoon.
She said,
I made some just for you.
I darted past that coffee,
Ran real fast and let me say,
I never sipped a bit of it.
No,
Never to this day.
So if you're teeny tiny and you're up real late at night and you find a cup of coffee and there's no one there in sight,
Please do not do what once I did.
The strange is much too strong.
Sneak back to bed and rest your head until that coffee's gone.
Now I want you to take another deep breath and bring it in,
Fill up the lungs,
Stretch yourself out,
And then let it go.
And maybe take a moment to smile at that silly story.
Now,
Sometimes after listening to a story,
We're ready for bed.
And if you are headed to sleep,
I wish you the best rest ever.
But if it's not bedtime,
Go ahead and start to move your body,
The fingers,
The toes,
The head a little bit until you feel awake and maybe super alive.
And let's make a promise to do this again very,
Very soon.
From my heart to your heart.
Namaste.
