Hi there,
I hope you're having a good day.
This meditation is designed to deepen our relationship with self and strengthen our confidence in our inner knowing.
We may find ourselves sometimes experiencing self-doubt and or fear that we aren't where we're supposed to be or that we don't know what to do next in our lives.
But if you've made it this far in your life,
Chances are you've gathered quite a few tools and know a little bit about you in order to have gotten here.
But you still may find that you're having difficulty making decisions or believing that you're in the right place in your life where you are now or that you know your own way.
If that's the case,
This meditation could be helpful for you.
I invite you to find a comfortable position.
You could be sitting or laying down.
If it feels good for you,
Closing the eyes and beginning to bring some awareness to your body.
Checking in with the muscles of the face,
The area around your eyes,
Your jaw,
Seeing if you can bring a bit more softness there.
Continuing down the body to your neck,
Your shoulders,
Letting the shoulders fall a little bit further down the back,
Lengthening your spine a little bit more and opening up the chest.
And now turning your attention to the breath,
Beginning with a long,
Deep inhalation and a slow and steady exhalation.
Again,
Inhaling,
Feeling the cool air as it moves into your body and the warm air as it moves out with your exhale.
One more time with the breath,
Nice deep inhalation and letting go of any little bits of tension or stress in your body with your exhalation.
And now letting the breath return to its natural rhythm,
Begin to picture yourself at a lake at night.
You're in a small sailboat,
Gently sailing towards the middle of the lake.
And as you reach the center of the lake,
The wind dies down and the boat stops and you suddenly find yourself still in the center of the lake.
You take a deep breath.
You can hear the sound of the water gently knocking against the sides of the boat.
The air is still and comfortable,
The clear night skies speckled with millions of stars above your head.
You feel safe in this boat.
You realize you have nowhere to rush to.
Really see yourself sitting in the middle of this lake.
See how you are part of the scene.
Another piece of the beautiful stillness in this pause.
And you look over the side of the boat into the cool dark water and you realize the moonlight is bright enough that you can see your reflection in the water and surrounding you all the millions of stars.
It's almost as you too are a constellation in the sky.
And in this moment,
Etched in the scene like a constellation,
You begin to see that you are exactly where you should be.
Exactly who you should be.
You honor the effort that brought you here.
The story that brought you to this moment.
That brought you to your being.
And then you sit back again in the boat,
Feeling it floating gently,
Wobbling but steady,
Continuing to find a sense of calm in the stillness,
Allowing yourself just to enjoy this moment.
And again,
Bringing your attention back to the breath,
Taking in a long deep inhale and a slow and intentional exhale.
And as you breathe out,
Noticing the sail above you begins to flutter,
Even though there is still no wind.
And as you take deeper and more intentional inhales and exhales,
You see that your breath is becoming the wind in the sails and your boat begins to move forward.
Breathing in,
You feel your body fill with your purpose.
All that is good.
All that is true.
All that you have done,
All on your own,
To bring you to this moment.
And exhaling slowly and with control,
Bringing to mind your intentions and deep desires and watching as they fill your sails and move you forward.
You continue on this lake,
Inhaling your truth,
Exhaling your intention.
It doesn't take much effort to lift your sails.
The strength of your steady and controlled breath is all you need.
Your own purposeful energy is moving you forward on this lake.
And you see that you are in complete control and you continue to enjoy your journey.
If you want to stop again and enjoy the stillness,
Feel free.
If you want to explore,
That's good too.
This time is for you.
It is your journey.
And when you're ready,
Finding your way back to this guided meditation,
You find your way back to the dock and you climb out of your boat and sit for a few minutes longer in the quiet,
Reflecting on the experience you just had and how you can move forward through your day with the same intention that filled your sails,
Believing that you do have the skills to guide you on your own journey.
And finally,
Bringing your attention back to your body,
Back to your breath.
And when you're ready,
Opening the eyes.
Our path in this world will always be unknown.
The gift that we have been given of ourselves is the one constant that we can count on and guarantee.
I hope this meditation has given you the opportunity to sit with that beautiful being that you are and know that you are good and that you can guide your way.
I'll see you next time.
Be well.
