Welcome to this practice helping you to pause and reflect before responding in situations with your child or other relationships.
To begin,
Find a comfortable position and gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and out.
The pause and reflect method is useful if you feel triggered by a situation or behavior with your child.
Take a pause.
Allow a moment of stillness before you react.
In this moment of pause,
You can connect with your breath.
Now,
As you inhale,
Imagine gathering a sense of patience and calm.
With every exhale,
Imagine letting go of any immediate reactions.
Each inhale brings you a sense of peace,
Presence,
And ease.
Each exhale creates a sense of release,
Letting go of tendencies to react.
Any tendency for impulsive behaviors or words.
Inhaling patience and calm.
Exhaling impulsivity,
Immediacy,
And urgency.
Before responding,
Ask yourself,
What does my child need right now?
How can I respond in a calm,
Thoughtful way?
In this space,
Trust that your response can come from a place of clarity and compassion,
Instead of an automatic reaction.
Begin to gently bring yourself back,
Taking a full,
Deep breath in.
A long,
Slow breath out.
Bringing some soft,
Gentle movement back into your body.
And as you're ready,
Beginning to mindfully transition back into your day.
Thank you for your practice.
