Inhale. Exhale. Be with your breath. Stay in this moment. Welcome to a Hit of Hope. Take a moment, and think about your relationship with your emotions. What is it like? When you think about emotions, are you like, “Oh hell, no. I don’t do that.” Or maybe your skin is the only thing keeping all of the emotions in as you carry the storm of them day in and day out. For the most part, it can be easy to welcome the good emotions. Happiness? Oh yeah, I’ll take that. Joy. Sure.

Inhale,

Exhale,

Be with your breath,

Stay in this moment.

Welcome to a hit of hope.

Take a moment and think about your relationship with your emotions.

What's it like?

When you think about emotions,

Are you like,

Oh hell no,

I don't do that.

Or maybe your skin is the only thing keeping all of your emotions inside as you carry the storm of them around day in and day out.

For the most part,

It can be easy to welcome the good emotions.

Happiness?

Oh yeah,

I'll take some of that.

Joy,

Sure.

Bring on excitement,

Amusement,

Interest.

Some days it might feel good even to welcome nostalgia,

That wistful sense of longing that can bring a slight smile to your face as you remember.

Or you might even welcome the arrow that beauty brings when you get pierced to the core by something that moves you.

Then there are those emotions that are harder to sit with.

Boredom?

Good god,

When will it end?

Awkwardness,

Oh goodness,

I've done it again.

Please,

Oh please,

Don't let the sadness swamp me.

Here comes the rage.

Maybe you live every day caught in craving,

Disgust,

Or fear.

When the demanding emotions come,

The ones that can threaten to undo you,

Inhale.

Exhale.

Be with your breath.

Stay in this moment.

Hard as it may be,

Honor the emotions.

All of them.

As Rumi says,

Greet them as esteemed strangers who arrive at your door.

Because if you do not welcome them,

They will barge in and probably wreak havoc.

Inhale.

Exhale.

May your body be a spacious container that can hold this emotion.

And then that one.

Be with your breath.

Stay in this moment.

Let the emotions come.

Let the emotions go.

Namaste.

This meditation sort of conflicts with my emotions. I will usually show positive emotions if I’m with the right people. Unfortunately, I don’t have positive emotions very often lately. When I am alone I will cry and scream, but will never let anyone see me cry because I don’t want them to think I am too sensitive (whimpy) . I am so conscious that I will look like a failure. The past few weeks ago it seems like all I want to do is cry. This makes me isolate from everyone, which in turn makes my depression get the better of me. I hope someday I’ll be able to find the happiness I used to enjoy.

I've never listened to one of your meditations that it didn't resonate with me. This one was really special though, in these difficult, scary times when we're all bouncing from one emotion to another. Namaste ❤️

I swear Betsy, everytime I am struggling with an issue within 3 days you post one of your sessions about that same topic. I am the 2nd type you describe, where my skin is barely holding all of my emotions in. I really struggle with them sometimes. It's like getting overwhelmed by the ocean 🌊 and I often feel powerless to stop the storm ⛈️ Thank you for this one. Will repeat. Just love these brief Hits of Hope ❤️

If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what is within you will destroy you. Nostalgia is a tricky emotion because it literally means "the pain of remembering" I've had a bit of an emotional morning so thank you for this Betsy. Namaste 🙏🌟

This led me to an image of my skin growing really big, with plenty of room for all the emotions to move about in whatever way they want to. Maybe when they're not in the usual pressure cooker, less havoc will be wreaked.
