Hello,
And welcome.
I'm Bessie,
And I'm so excited to guide you through this meditation called the worry tree.
This is your special time to pause,
To breathe,
And to feel calm in your body.
So let's find a comfy spot,
Maybe lying down or sitting with a soft blanket.
Let your hands rest in your lap or by your sides.
You can close your eyes now,
If that's comfortable for you,
Or just look at one still spot in the room.
We want to get as comfy as we can get,
So we're not wiggling about.
Let's take a big,
Slow breath in,
And a long,
Gentle breath out.
And let's do that again.
Breathe in through your nose,
Slow breath out through your mouth.
I want you to imagine that you're walking through a quiet,
Peaceful forest.
The sun is peeking through the leaves.
You can hear birds singing and leaves gently rustling in the breeze.
It's calm here,
Safe.
And as you walk along the soft path,
You notice something up ahead.
It's a magnificent tree.
This tree is tall and strong,
With wide branches that stretch way up into the sky.
And this tree is special.
It's called the worry tree.
It's here just for you.
As you walk closer,
You see that hanging from its branches are tiny glowing lights,
Like fairy lights,
And little wooden tags gently swinging in the breeze.
This is a magic tree that holds your worries for you,
So you don't have to carry them anymore.
Now I want you to think of one worry that's been sitting in your heart or your head today.
Maybe something that made you feel a little bit upset,
Or nervous,
Or unsure.
Can you picture it?
And when you're ready,
Imagine yourself gently tying that worry onto one of those tree branches.
You might use a ribbon or a little string,
And as you tie it on,
The tree lights up just a tiny bit more,
As if to say,
Thank you,
I've got this now.
Take another big slow breath in,
And a calm breath out.
If you have another worry,
You can tie that one to the tree too.
There's plenty of space.
This tree is never too full,
And it never gets tired.
Now step back,
And look at your worry tree.
All your worries are gently swaying in the wind,
And the tree is glowing softly.
You feel lighter,
You feel calmer,
And you know you can come back to this tree any time you need to.
Let's take one last breath together.
The biggest one you've taken all day,
Ready?
In through your nose,
And out through the mouth.
Now when you're ready,
You can wiggle your fingers and your toes,
Give your body a little stretch,
And gently open your eyes.
Welcome back.
You did so well.
And just remember,
The worry tree is always there,
Waiting,
Whenever you need to let something go.
