Hi friends,
I'm Anita Kaiser and I wanted to talk to you today about emotional flooding.
What is emotional flooding?
So for empaths and highly sensitive beings our threshold for becoming flooded is smaller than the average person.
And so it takes less to push us to that place where we are flooded.
And so being emotionally flooded,
This is a term we use in the tapping world,
It's that space of panic or overwhelm that many of us get to more often than we'd like.
And so when you're in that place,
That emotionally flooded place,
It's very hard to take action in your life,
To be proactive and really just to make decisions.
It's not a place where your logical rational mind can help you make decisions,
Right?
Because your logical rational mind has actually gone offline.
Your nervous system has gone into overdrive.
And so for each of us panic,
Overwhelm feels a little bit different,
But for me in my body it's very often like waves,
Right?
Like a wave rolls in and I feel like completely overwhelmed and then I have a moment of,
Oh well maybe it's not so bad,
Then I'll be again overcome by another wave of like,
Ah,
There's just too much happening.
So the first step to stopping that is noticing when it happens to you.
And as you start on this journey,
It may take you a few days or a week to notice that,
Oh my goodness,
That happened and I ended up leaving my body.
And that's okay because you noticed this time,
Even if it took you a bit of time.
And the more you practice this,
The more you're going to see it as it is happening so you can adjust accordingly.
