A gentle yoga nidra practice perfect for setting new intentions. While this practice is most effective when listened to around the New Moon, it can be listened to at any time. Allow yourself to relax fully as you are soothed and guided deeper within. Do not listen to this while driving or operating heavy machinery.

Hi there and welcome to Freedom Sound.

Today we'll be doing a yoga nidra focused on celebrating the new moon.

This yoga nidra can also be done just if you need a tune up for your chakras,

Also over the full moon and any time where you feel like you would like to connect and go within.

Please get ready for relaxation.

Lie down on your back on the floor and adopt Savasana,

The corpse pose.

In this position,

The body should be straight from head to toe.

The legs are slightly apart and the hands are a little away from the body with the palm of the hands turned upwards.

Adjust your body position and clothes until you are completely comfortable.

During yoga nidra,

There should be no physical movement.

Close your eyes and keep them closed throughout the practice.

Now take a deep breath in and as you breathe out,

Feel all of the cares and worries of the day flow out of you.

In the practice that follows,

You're going to develop the feeling of relaxation in the body.

It is not necessary to make movements or to deliberately relax your muscles.

Simply develop the feeling of relaxation.

Make a resolution to yourself now that I will not sleep,

I will remain awake throughout the practice.

During yoga nidra,

You are functioning on the levels of hearing and awareness and the only important thing is to follow my voice.

Try not to analyze the instructions as this will disturb your mental relaxation.

Simply follow my voice with total attention and feeling and if thoughts come to disturb you from time to time,

Do not worry,

Just continue with the practice.

Allow yourself time now to become calm and steady.

Become aware of sounds in the distance.

Become aware of the most distant sounds that you can hear.

Let your sense of hearing operate like a radar beam,

Searching out distant sounds and following them for a few moments.

Move your attention from sound to sound without attempting to identify the source.

And gradually bring your attention to closer sounds,

To sounds outside of the space you are in.

And then to sounds within your space.

Now develop your awareness of the space.

Without opening your eyes,

Visualize any walls,

The ceiling,

The floor,

Your body lying on the floor,

See your body lying on the floor.

Total awareness of your body lying in perfect stillness.

Develop your awareness of all of the physical meeting points between your body and the floor.

And then become aware of the natural breath.

Become aware of the deep,

Natural,

Spontaneous breath.

Try not to concentrate too intensely for this will interfere with the natural process.

Just keep on listening to me and know that you are breathing.

The practice of Yoga Nidra begins now.

Say mentally to yourself,

I am going to practice Yoga Nidra.

I will not sleep.

Repeat it to yourself.

Yoga Nidra begins now.

Now is the time to set our resolve,

Our sankalpa for our Yoga Nidra practice.

Please state our resolve clearly with feeling and awareness,

Repeating it three times.

I am open and receptive to all life.

I am open and receptive to all life.

We will now begin the rotation of consciousness.

The awareness has to move through the different parts of the body.

Repeat the name of the part of the body in your mind and simultaneously become aware of that part of the body.

Keep yourself alert but do not concentrate too intensely.

Become aware of the right hand,

Right hand thumb,

Second finger,

Third finger,

Fourth finger and fifth,

The palm of the hand,

The back of the hand,

The wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

Shoulder and armpit,

The right side of the chest,

The right waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Knee cap,

Calf muscle,

Ankle and heel,

The sole of the right foot,

The top of the foot,

The big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe and fifth.

Now take your awareness to the left hand,

Left hand thumb,

Second finger,

Third finger,

Fourth finger and fifth,

The palm of the hand,

The back of the hand,

The wrist,

Lower arm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

Shoulder and armpit,

The left side of the chest,

The left waist,

Hip,

Thigh,

Knee cap,

Calf muscle,

Ankle and heel,

The sole of the left foot,

The top of the foot,

The big toe,

Second toe,

Third toe,

Fourth toe and fifth.

Now take your awareness to the back of the body in contact with the floor,

The right shoulder blade,

The left shoulder blade,

The right buttock,

The left buttock,

The spine and the whole of your back in contact with the floor.

Now go to the top of the head,

The top of the head,

The forehead,

The right eyebrow,

The left eyebrow,

The space between the eyebrows,

The right eyelid,

The left eyelid,

The right eye,

The left eye,

The right ear,

The left ear,

The right cheek,

The left cheek,

The nose,

The tip of the nose,

The upper lip,

The lower lip,

The chin,

The throat,

The right chest,

The left chest,

The middle of the chest,

The upper abdomen,

The navel,

The lower abdomen.

Become aware now of the whole of the right leg,

The whole of the left leg and both legs together,

The whole of the right arm,

The whole of the left arm and both arms together.

The whole of the back,

Buttocks,

Spine,

Shoulder blades and the whole of the front,

Abdomen and chest,

The whole of the back and front together,

The whole of the head,

The whole body together,

The whole body together and the whole body together.

Do your best not to sleep,

Total awareness,

The body on the floor,

Your body is lying on the floor,

See your body lying on the floor and visualize this image in your mind.

Begin now to awaken the feeling of heaviness in the body,

Awaken the feeling of heaviness.

Become aware of heaviness in every single part of the body.

You are feeling so heavy that you are sinking into the floor.

Awareness of heaviness,

Awareness of heaviness.

Now awaken the feeling of lightness in the body,

Awaken the feeling of lightness,

A sensation of lightness and weightlessness in all parts of the body.

Your body feels so light it seems to be floating away from the floor.

Awareness of lightness,

Awareness of lightness.

Just draw your mind and focus on the space in front of your closed eyes.

Imagine before you a transparent screen through which you can see infinite space,

A space that extends as far as the eyes can see.

Concentrate on this dark space and become aware of any phenomena that manifest within it,

Whatever you see is the manifesting state of your mind.

Continue your awareness of the space but do not become too involved,

Practice detached awareness only.

As you visualize the space,

Begin to see a scene materialize within it,

An outdoor clearing underneath the night sky.

Visualize the scene with all aspects of your awareness,

Feeling,

Visualization and emotion and begin to see yourself standing in this clearing.

You feel safe and warm in this space and you can feel your feet firmly grounded connecting to the earth.

As you focus on this connection with the ground,

It's as if roots of bright light appear from under the soles of your feet and start to dig through the surface of the earth.

Visualize your roots of light burrowing through every layer of the ground,

Passing layers of stone,

Pockets of air,

Slabs of crystal and gold through all of the layers of the earth.

Eventually your roots reach the molten lava layer of the earth and instead of the lava burning your roots,

You feel a warm glowing sensation flow through them.

Your roots continue to burrow through this molten layer until they arrive at the very core of the earth,

A glowing orb of white light,

The energy core of our planet.

Your roots connect to this orb of light in the center of the earth and as this happens you start to feel a reassuring healing energy of the earth flow up your roots through the layers of the earth up towards your feet and through your entire body.

The energy fills up every cell within your being leaving you feeling connected,

Safe,

Warm and health.

As you feel this lovely sensation tingling through your body,

You take a moment to look up at the night sky.

The sky appears dark and thick with a few stars sprinkled within it.

As you look at the night sky you begin to see a glowing ball of light starting to drop down from the sky towards you.

As the light nears closer you recognize that it's no bigger than a squash ball,

A small ball of glowing light.

The orb of light stops right in front of your face and as the light begins to dim you notice that the ball of light is actually a white gem glowing in front of you.

As you look at this gem you begin to notice that the sky begins to change color as you are standing underneath the aurora night sky.

The sky begins to dissolve into a dark red beautiful color,

Shimmering areas of red all across the night sky.

And as you see this you notice that the gem in front of you changes into a brilliant red ruby.

You look up to the sky once again and notice that the colors are changing,

This time into a brilliant orange display of light.

And as this happens the gem in front of you magically transforms to a beautiful orange amber crystal.

Once again the sky begins to change,

This time to a golden yellow display of light.

And as this happens your gem transforms to a golden citrine crystal floating in front of you.

The night changes once again to a display of green light.

And as you look at this crystal it transforms to a beautiful deep green emerald.

The night sky begins to dissolve now to a blue display of light as the gem in front of you transforms into a stunning sapphire crystal.

And once again the sky changes,

This time to a stunning display of purple and pink as the gem in front of you transforms to a deep purple amethyst before you.

The sky makes one final change to a display of white brilliant light.

The sky of a thousand sparkling white diamonds ahead of you as your crystal transforms to a rainbow stone reflecting all of the previous colors.

The sky transforms back to black but the crystal remains in front of you changing to different colors.

Red,

Orange,

Yellow,

Green,

Blue,

Purple and rainbow.

You gently reach out and grab the stone.

It is warm and heavy in your hand.

You take the stone and press it towards the center of your chest and feel it dissolve into your skin dissolving into a thousand pieces that disperse throughout your body.

As this happens you feel the energy of the entire cosmos of all that is and has ever been dissolving within your body.

You close your eyes feeling peace and bliss and slowly the scene dissolves to black.

Now is the time to repeat our resolve repeating it in the same wording with feeling and intent three times.

I am open and receptive to all life.

I am open and receptive to all life.

I am open and receptive to all life.

Relax all efforts.

Relax all efforts.

Become aware of the breath,

The natural breath,

Awareness of the whole body and awareness of breathing.

Your body is lying totally relaxed on the floor.

You are breathing quietly and slowly.

Develop awareness of your body from the top of the head to the tip of the toes becoming aware of the floor and your body lying on the floor.

The practice of Yoga Nidra is now complete.

Very gently start to caress each finger with your thumb.

Start moving your toes,

Turning your head gently from side to side and then bringing your head to center,

Lifting your arms up overhead,

Interlacing the fingers,

Turning the palms out,

Inhale to point the toes and exhale opening the mouth,

Sighing out and letting go.

Gently hug your knees in towards your chest,

Giving yourself an embrace knowing that you've done all that you should and all that you could today.

Then slowly roll over to one side,

Lie in the fetal position for some time and give yourself time to come back to your body and to your chest.

I'm going to leave you here giving yourself time to slowly reintegrate into your day.
