We feel grounded around mountains for their immense presence.

Mountains are a symbol of stability and strength.

They rise slowly over millions of years and endure storms,

Winds and time itself.

Being near them reminds us that we too can stand firm through hardship and change.

Their terrain demands steadiness with each step which naturally brings our attention back to the body,

To the ground beneath our feet.

Mountains create silence and peacefulness.

Mountain air is often cooler and thinner which slows us down.

The vast scale around us puts us in perspective,

Humbling the ego and anchoring us in the present.

Mountains are seen as sacred places where earth meets sky,

Where humans touch the divine.

We may know this unconsciously,

Feeling closer to something greater than ourselves when we're among the peaks.

Mountains ground us because they embody the qualities we often crave.

Stillness,

Endurance,

Silence and presence.

Now get comfortable lying down or sitting.

Close your eyes and take a slow steady breath in and out.

Allow your body to settle.

Imagine yourself standing at the base of a magnificent mountain.

A mirror of your own being.

Its presence is steady and timeless.

Feel the weight of the earth beneath you,

Supporting you.

Inhale drawing in the cool clear air of the high peaks and the mountain strength.

Exhale release any heaviness.

Within you.

See yourself beginning to merge with this mountain.

Your feet root deep into the soil,

Into the bedrock.

Your spine rises tall like the ridgeline.

Your head lifts gently towards the sky like the summit.

Storms may pass,

Clouds may cover,

Winds may roar,

But the mountain remains steady and unphased.

You too can hold this stillness within.

Rest in this vast strength for a few minutes.

Breathing in the calm of the mountain.

Breathing out,

Letting go of all that does not serve you.

With every inhale feel your chest expand like the wide valleys.

Exhale feel your worries flow down the mountain streams leaving you lighter.

You are this mountain.

Your body the solid earth.

Your breath the wind circling its ridges.

Your thoughts the passing clouds above its summit.

The mountain does not chase the clouds,

It does not cling to the storm.

It allows everything to come and to go.

Rest here.

Breathe here.

Be the mountain within.

Now start to wiggle your toes and move your fingers.

Become aware of your whole body.

Maybe stretch out as you take a full breath in and out.

And when you are ready,

Open your eyes and return gently.

Carry the mountain's calm and steadiness with you into the world.
