Making Peace With Anger

With Alta Lourette

Anger is one of the most misunderstood emotions we experience. Many of us have been taught to suppress it, fear it, or feel ashamed of it. Others find themselves overwhelmed by it, reacting in ways they later regret. But anger itself is not the problem. Like every emotion, it has something important to tell us. In this five-day course, you'll learn how to change your relationship with anger through the practice of mindfulness. Rather than trying to eliminate anger, you'll discover how to observe it with curiosity, understand the messages it carries, and respond with greater awareness instead of reacting automatically. Each day builds on the last. You'll begin by learning to recognise anger as it arises, then explore how it shows up in the body, uncover the more vulnerable emotions that often lie beneath it, practice creating space between your triggers and your responses, and finally cultivate compassion for yourself when difficult emotions arise. Drawing on mindfulness, psychology, and neuroscience, this course combines practical theory with guided meditations that help you develop emotional awareness and resilience in everyday life. Whether your anger appears as frustration, impatience, resentment, or quiet irritation, these practices will help you meet it with greater understanding rather than judgment. You don't need any previous meditation experience, only a willingness to become curious about your inner world. By the end of this course, you won't necessarily feel less anger. Instead, you'll have developed the ability to meet anger with calm awareness, wise choice, and self-compassion. Because true peace isn't found by never feeling difficult emotions, it is found in learning how to be with them.

Meet your Teacher

Alta is an occupational therapist with a passion for making mindfulness practical, approachable, and relevant to everyday life. Her teaching is grounded in years of personal meditation practice and a continued interest in mindfulness, psychology, and neuroscience. Rather than teaching from the perspective of perfection, Alta teaches from lived experience. She believes that difficult emotions such as anger are a natural part of being human and that lasting change comes not from suppressing these emotions, but from understanding them with awareness and compassion. Her meditation style combines evidence-based mindfulness practices with gentle guidance, helping students develop greater emotional resilience, self-awareness, and inner calm. Through her courses, she creates a supportive space where people can explore their inner world without judgment and learn practical skills they can apply in daily life. Alta's intention is to help others cultivate a kinder relationship with themselves, recognising that mindfulness is not about eliminating difficult emotions but about learning to meet them with wisdom, patience, and compassion.

What Lies Beneath Anger

Anger is often the emotion we notice first, but it is rarely the whole story. Underneath it may be hurt, fear, disappointment, grief, or a longing to be seen and understood. In today's meditation, you will gently explore what anger may be protecting, helping you develop greater self-awareness and compassion for your own emotional experience.

Lesson 4

Creating Space Between Trigger And Response

We do not choose what happens to us, but we can learn to choose how we respond. This session explores the powerful pause between a trigger and our reaction - a space where mindfulness gives us the freedom to act with intention instead of habit. Through meditation, you will strengthen your ability to respond thoughtfully, even during life's most difficult moments.
