Welcome to our journey through the senses.
Find a comfortable position,
Whether sitting or lying down.
Take a few deep breaths,
Feeling the air filling the lungs and exhaling slowly.
Let's begin our exploration of the senses together.
Sense of touch.
Close your eyes down and bring your attention to your sense of touch.
Feel the ground beneath you,
The texture of your clothes against your skin.
Notice any sensations,
Warmth or coolness,
Softness or hardness.
Take a moment to appreciate the sense of touch,
Grounding you in the present moment.
Sense of sight.
Gently open your eyes and let your gaze fall on an object in the room.
Notice its shape,
Its colour and texture.
Allow your eyes to wander,
Observing the details around you without judgement.
Take in the beauty of the world around you through your sense of sight.
Sense of hearing.
Close your eyes again and focus on the sounds around you.
Listen to the rhythm of your breath,
The gentle hum of the environment.
Notice any distant sounds and bring your awareness to them,
Without trying to change them.
Let the sense of hearing guide you into deeper relaxation.
Sense of taste.
Now bring your attention to a sense of taste.
Take a sip of water or a small snack if you have one nearby.
Notice the flavour,
The texture and the temperature of what you're tasting.
Pay attention to each sensation as you slowly enjoy the experience of nourishing your body.
Sense of smell.
Lastly,
Focus on your sense of smell.
Take a moment to inhale deeply.
In through your nose and out through your mouth.
Notice any scents in the air.
It could be the fragrance of flowers,
The aroma of food cooking nearby or simply the freshness of the air.
Allow the sense of smell to awaken your senses and bring you into the present moment.
As we come to the end of our sensory journey,
Take a few moments to reflect on how you feel.
Notice any changes in your body,
Mind or emotions since we started.
Remember that you can always return to this practice whenever you need to reconnect with your senses and find peace within yourself.
Thank you for joining me on this mindfulness meditation journey.
