Welcome to your meditation practice today.
Begin by finding a comfortable seated position.
Allow your spine to be upright yet relaxed.
Your hands gently resting in your lap.
Close your eyes or soften your gaze downward.
Take three deep breaths.
Inhale slowly through your nose,
Feeling your chest and belly expand.
Exhale through your mouth,
Releasing any tension you're holding.
With each breath,
Allow yourself to arrive fully in this moment.
Notice where you are right now.
There's nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing you need to accomplish.
Just this breath,
This body,
This present moment.
Today's meditation is focusing on walking in the center.
The definition of center as a verb is to place or focus something at the middle or focal point,
To bring something to a state of balance or equilibrium.
Keep that definition in mind during today's meditation.
Now bring to mind your understanding of a higher power.
This might be God,
The universe,
Your own inner wisdom,
The collective consciousness,
Or something beyond words entirely.
Whatever resonates with you.
Invite this presence into your space.
Imagine as a gentle light surrounding you or warm energy filling the room.
There's no pressure to feel anything specific.
Just open the invitation.
I welcome your presence here.
I am ready to receive whatever guidance,
Comfort,
Or strength you offer.
I trust in this connection,
Even when I cannot see it clearly.
Rest in this invitation for a few moments.
Feel supported.
You are not alone on this journey.
Now in your mind's eye,
Imagine yourself standing at the beginning of a peaceful road.
It stretches out before you,
Well worn and familiar.
The ground beneath your feet feels solid and steady.
Begin to walk forward along this road.
Notice the rhythm of your steps.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Breathing in and breathing out.
You are moving at your own pace,
Exactly where you need to be.
As you walk,
Notice the center of the road.
This is your place of balance,
Your place of recovery,
Your place of alignment.
The center is wide enough for you to move freely,
Yet defined enough to guide you.
Stay in the center.
Feel the stability there.
Feel how the path supports you when you're aligned with your intentions,
Your values,
And your recovery.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Now notice how the road has edges.
On either side,
The path becomes less defined.
Perhaps there are weeds growing,
Or loose stones,
Or shadows that stretch across the ground.
As you continue walking,
You begin to drift.
Maybe you're tired,
Or distracted,
Or pulled by something on the left or the right.
You find yourself stepping toward the edge of the road.
Notice what happens here.
The ground feels less stable.
Your balance shifts.
You might feel uncertain,
Or anxious,
Or pulled away from your center.
This is natural.
We all drift sometimes.
Recovery is not about never leaving the center.
It's about noticing when we have,
And choosing to return.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Pause here at the edge.
Acknowledge where you are without judgment.
Drifting does not mean failure.
It means you're human,
And you're still walking.
Now gently turn your attention back toward the center.
Take a moment to reconnect with your breath.
Feel your higher power with you,
Supporting your return.
Step back toward the middle of the road.
Feel the difference in the ground beneath you.
Feel the stability returning.
Each step back is an act of courage,
An act of commitment to yourself.
Continue walking in the center.
Notice how it feels to be aligned again.
Notice how the path opens up before you.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Left foot,
Right foot.
As you walk,
Set an intention for your recovery.
What does being centered mean for you?
Is it peace?
Clarity?
Connection?
Strength?
Serenity?
Let that intention anchor you.
When you notice yourself drifting again,
And you may,
Gently return to the center.
Each return strengthens your awareness.
Each return builds your capacity to stay grounded.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Feel your higher power walking beside you.
Not ahead.
Not behind.
Beside you.
Supporting you.
Witnessing you.
Holding space for every step,
Whether steady or uncertain.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Remember that the road is always here for you.
The center is always available.
You can return to it at any moment.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Left foot,
Right foot.
Slowly bring your walking to a gentle stop.
Stand still in the center of the road.
Feel the ground beneath your feet.
Feel the presence around you.
Carry this sense of center with you as you move through your day.
Remember that whenever you feel yourself drifting,
You can pause,
Breathe,
And return.
You are always capable of finding your way back to center.
Let's close our practice today with three deep breaths.
Inhale peace.
Exhale any remaining tension.
Inhale peace.
Exhale tension.
One more.
Inhale.
And let it out.
Whenever you are ready,
Return to the room.
Notice your body and where you are,
And then slowly open your eyes.
Thank you for sharing your meditation practice with me today.
Remember that you can return to this meditation anytime you need a reminder of how to stay in the center of the road.
Namaste.
