Welcome.
Before we begin.
I'd like you to notice where you are right now.
Just take a moment and check in with your nervous system.
Not where you think you should be or how calm you wish you felt.
Just where you are in this moment.
Whether you're sitting down or lying down.
There's a good chance that you're carrying the residue.
Of the day in your body without even realizing it.
And that's what this meditation is about.
Not just regulation during the big moments of stress or overwhelm.
But becoming aware of how often so many of us quietly drift into subtle states of dysregulation.
Throughout our day.
Now I've been noticing this in myself more and more lately.
It's those moments when.
I'm trying to figure something out.
Fix something.
Manage finances or sometimes even responding to an email.
On the surface.
Nothing dramatic is happening.
But underneath.
My nervous system has shifted.
Sometimes it shows up.
With a tape jar.
Or my breathing gets shallow.
And often I find my body tensing,
My upper body.
And leaning forward.
As if there's an urgency here.
And what's fascinating is how normal this can start to feel.
Because so many of us spend.
A good deal of time in these low-grade activated states that we barely notice them anymore.
Until we stop.
Close our eyes and take a breath,
And then another.
And we suddenly realize.
There's another way to do this.
Another way to move through life.
Even through ordinary moments.
So today,
This meditation is an invitation and not to be perfectly calm or eliminate stress.
But to start to notice and remember.
That your body was never designed to live in constant low-level fight or flight.
Your body knows how to restore itself.
It knows how to heal.
Healing requires a different internal environment.
One that is softer,
Quieter.
And more receptive.
So what we're going to do is drop in.
And I love that language because it feels.
.
.
Less like striving and more like being.
Returning.
Many practitioners describe this experience in different ways.
But underneath it all is something very familiar.
Quieting,
Settling,
Shifting out of mental grasping.
And into presence.
The state of calm.
Is where the nervous system begins to regulate.
The vagus nerve can function more effectively,
And the body shifts from fight or flight into rest and restore.
And this matters beyond meditation.
For our immune function,
For healing.
Emotional regulation.
Creativity.
Relationships.
It even impacts our energy around money.
We think differently from a regulated state and we make decisions differently.
We relate differently.
Our capacity to receive support.
Creativity,
Love.
Abundance.
It all changes when the nervous system no longer feels like it has to stay in survival mode.
And so now.
We practice.
So gently,
Without force.
Take a slow breath in through the nose.
And exhale slowly through the mouth.
Again.
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Let your shoulders soften a bit.
Relax your jaw.
And clench your hands if they're gripping.
And simply notice.
What is happening inside right now.
Not fixing.
Not analyzing.
Just simply noticing.
Notice the pace of your mind.
Or any subtle pressure.
To get to someplace.
For this moment,
There's no need to solve anything.
Or to figure out anything in your life.
You do not need to carry the weight of everything all at once.
Just breathe.
And as you breathe.
Imagine your awareness.
Dropping beneath the surface of thought.
Just sinking gently below choppy water.
Into something quieter beneath.
Beneath the mental noise.
Beneath the striving and the urgency.
Landing in the body.
In presence.
In this moment.
Notice what changes.
When you stop gripping life tightly.
But softens when you start pushing.
Even for a moment.
You may notice more.
Spaciousness.
Maybe emotion.
There may be nothing at all here.
Sometimes regulation feels profound.
And sometimes it feels very subtle.
But over time,
These small moments matter.
Because every time you pause instead of push.
Every time you breathe instead of brace.
Every time you soften instead of tighten.
You are teaching your body something new.
You are showing your nervous system.
That it does not have to live in constant vigilance.
That safety is possible too.
Even in the ordinary moments of life.
Now take another slow breath in.
And a long exhale out.
And just rest here for a moment in this quiet space.
The place beneath the constant doing.
The place your body already knows.
That you can return to again and again.
Throughout your day.
And not because life suddenly becomes easy,
But because.
You begin.
Meeting life differently.
More aware,
More present,
More regulated.
More connected to yourself.
That's where the change really begins.
Not forcing or fixing,
But.
.
.
Remembering how to return.
Now slowly start to bring your awareness.
Back to the room around you.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Sounds around you.
Before you open your eyes,
Ask yourself.
What would it feel like?
To move through today.
And tomorrow.
With a little less urgency.
A little more presence.
When you feel ready,
You can start to open your eyes.
