Breathe,
Just breathe,
A simple act the body does all on its own.
And yet an intentional breath is somehow different.
It's grounding,
Calming.
It brings us back to ourselves.
Think about those challenging moments in life.
Maybe it was a phone call or a conversation that ended a relationship or a job.
Maybe it was news that someone you loved was ill.
This is the life we all live and we all breathe every day,
Mostly without a thought.
But it's in those challenging moments when we are thrown into a new universe,
When our bodies and nervous system fire up to the highest level.
Those are the moments when we need to come back to the breath.
A simple moment to pause,
Close the eyes,
And go inside with the breath.
Let's do that here together right now.
Take in a slow,
Deep breath,
Feeling your chest rise,
And then let it go.
Take a couple more breaths here on your own,
Feeling yourself fully arrive in your body and in this moment.
Now imagine your next breath is filled with light.
Maybe it's entering through the crown of your head,
Filling your torso,
Traveling down your arms and legs,
Finding its way to the tips of your toes and fingers.
Again,
Let it go.
Feel the release.
Our breath is our connection to life,
A connection to source.
And it is always here,
Always available to each and every one of us.
It's easy to take this breath for granted.
The more intimate we become with our breath,
The easier it is to remember it's there,
That it's our ally in those challenging moments.
Devote to this amazing function that we possess,
And it will guide you in your darkest moments.
Thank you for meditating with me today,
And be well.
