If you are a creative,
You might have encountered a creative block when it comes to your creativity.
You may have felt completely stuck in what you want to create.
You have your idea,
You're inspired,
And then you have some thinking around why you can't do what it is you want to do.
Now there's an invisible boulder between what you want to create and actually taking the actions to make that come true.
And what happens is we have certain thoughts that we have running through our minds,
And they may sound like,
I'm not good enough.
I'm not talented enough.
I don't know enough yet.
I'm just not ready.
And we listen to those thoughts and we follow them around.
As if they've got vital information for us.
And that literally is our creative block.
There's nothing visible that you could show me that tells me why you have this creative block.
It will all be thought-based and all thoughts are ephemeral.
They're made up of energy.
If I asked you to pull a thought out from within you and show it to me objectively and hold it in your hands,
You wouldn't be able to.
All you'd be able to do is describe to me what the thought is telling you,
What you believe about it,
What you're making it mean.
And then how you're obeying it.
Your obedience to your thoughts are what's stopping you from creating the art you want to make.
And I want you to not take my word for it.
I want you to experiment with this.
I want you to explore what it's like when you have a creative idea,
You decide you want to embark on it.
And you notice what thoughts come up,
But you don't obey them,
You don't follow them,
You don't pay them any attention.
You just move forward with the action that you wish to take.
And now,
I'm not going to tell you it's going to feel amazing and you're going to feel comfortable and you're going to know it's exactly what you need to be doing.
You most likely won't.
You'll probably feel everything that you're thinking in that moment,
And those thoughts won't be positive,
They won't be encouraging,
They might not be motivating,
But it doesn't matter.
What I want you to see in this experiment is you can be in any state of mind,
You could be having any thought passing through you,
And you have the power to choose whether you obey it or listen to it or not.
Your power is what actually brings those thoughts to life.
Thoughts on their own are impotent.
Without your attention,
Without your collaboration with them,
They don't exist outside of a passing energy within you.
So when you begin this experiment,
All you have is the idea that you know you want to execute on.
The actions that you know you want to take,
And in between that will be a whole bunch of thoughts.
And I want you to allow yourself to notice them.
I don't want you to pay any attention to them or be obedient to them.
I am giving you permission to literally leave them alone and carry on moving forward,
Even if you don't feel like you're in the right mood,
Even if it doesn't feel great,
Even if it doesn't feel easy.
These are not signals for you to stop doing what it is you want to do.
Your art is here to be created.
That is why ideas have visited you,
Because only you can bring those specific ideas to life.
Stopping you from making that happen is that you're listening to thoughts that aren't true They're not telling you anything factual and you don't have to listen to them ever again if you choose not to.
So I want you to go and try this experiment out for yourself.
See what happens when it comes to your creativity.
You can apply this in any area of your life,
But start with your art first.
See what happens in the process.
What you will see is that you can create no matter what circumstances your mind is in.
You can create no matter what way you are feeling,
Whatever emotions are passing through you.
These are not obstacles to your path.
They're just there almost as a form of distraction and we don't have to pay them any attention.
Just like when you're sitting in a room and there's the hum of the air conditioning on or there's some traffic outside.
Once you're focused on your activity,
Those sounds become background.
We don't notice them.
We can do the same with our thoughts.
We are powerful enough to do that.
We focus on thoughts and bring them to life.
And if we neglect to look at them or pay them the attention,
They dissolve and move on and change shape and another thought comes along.
You don't have to listen to any single one of them.
So,
I want you to consider that the creative blocks are just your thoughts.
You don't have to obey them.
They're not telling you any truths about yourself,
And you're free to act on your inspiration as you so choose.
Let me know how you get on.
I'd be really curious to hear about your experiences.
Wishing you well on your creative journey.
