Hello and good morning and welcome to this morning gratitude meditation My name is David and I have immense gratitude that you've chosen to sit with me for a few minutes this morning Open your heart open your awareness And really connect to what's important It's so easy to just wake up and jump in to all the chaos and lose ourselves But for a few moments this morning we're going to pause Step back and not do that So as you close your eyes perhaps One hand lands on top of the other in your lap or on your knees whether you're sitting in a chair Or with your legs crossed on a cushion wherever you are You can gently begin to step into this day with me With that sense of freshness and awareness that comes with waking up out of a deep sleep And just take a moment pay attention to the sounds around you Pay attention to the stillness and the silence And notice that right now in this moment this morning Although things may seem like the same as other mornings you woke up in the same bed or in the same place But it's not the same it's absolutely unique The present moment is like a fountain that just never ends it just flows and flows and flows And as you arise with me this morning I want you to notice The center of your chest that heart center it just begins to open where you are And you can feel the presence of your inner self And as you move your chest that heart center it just begins to open with gratitude For everything that exists for everything that vibrates with energy in life That subtle thing that we call life we don't even know exactly what it is It's an energy that permeates everything that exists Including ourselves A teacher of mine used to say make room in your life for life You don't have to be somewhere you don't have to be someone you don't have to do something The value of your life is not how much you produce or who you know or where you've been Every morning as you awaken notice that life accepts you as you are Every morning as you awaken notice that life accepts you as you are The only question is can you accept you as you are can you have gratitude for yourself Look how far you've taken yourself And as you are you are able to accept yourself as you are Can you have gratitude for yourself look how far you've taken yourself Can you have gratitude for your thoughts even though maybe sometimes they torture you Can you see the beauty in them the fact that you're a conscious living being that's able to have complex thoughts To understand concepts and ideas principles to have creative thoughts to see beyond the horizon of the physical Can you extend that gratitude to your body be grateful for having this complex structure that took 4 billion years to evolve into where you are And all you do is wake up and there it is functioning autonomously without you Can you have gratitude for the other people and beings in your life the animals Every creature every living thing that you've come in contact with that's affected you And can you have gratitude for this planet that you were born from That has so generously provided food and shelter for you And can you have gratitude for the people that you've come in contact with that's affected you And all you do is wake up and there it is functioning autonomously without you The earth is a creature that you were born from that has so generously provided food,
Shelter,
Warmth and a place for you to exist for so long Earth is a being in and of itself.
And you can even extend that gratitude wider and wider,
Extend it to the sun,
To the planets,
To the stars,
To the galaxy,
To the universe and beyond.
Your gratitude can extend as far as you can be aware.
And then I want you to notice it's like you open a door to your heart,
Like opening a bird cage when you open a cage and the birds just like fly out.
But in this instance,
These beautiful roses just fly out of your chest towards everyone and everything you're grateful for.
Every person you're grateful for gets one.
The earth gets one.
The stars get one.
The animals get one.
The plants get one.
Give every being a rose of gratitude.
And notice that when you give,
You receive by giving gratitude,
It opens your heart and that opening is all the reward that you need.
Put a light smile on your face,
Drop your shoulders,
Relax and deepen into who you truly are,
Which is a being that is grateful.
And step into the rest of your day today with this attitude.
Every person you come across,
Everyone you come in contact with,
Whether it's physically or digitally,
Show them respect,
Show them gratitude,
Show them generosity of spirit and be present with them.
Because ultimately when you do that,
You're being present with yourself and you're being present with life.
And they call it the present because it is a gift.
Embrace it,
Own it,
Love it,
Love yourself and have an amazing day.
And I will see you soon.
