Why do we love this guided meditation practice called Yoga Nidra?
Well I know that the first time I was guided into this practice I came out feeling so relaxed.
Super clear and light.
Well,
There's a number of reasons why this happens.
And we know that Yoga Nidra supports us if we're suffering from insomnia,
Clarity of mind,
Intuition,
Creativity.
It supports deep skeletal and muscular relaxation.
But there's a couple of things that I want to highlight about this practice.
Firstly,
We live in a world where our attention is constantly being pulled out,
Outside of ourselves.
This practice.
Draws our attention inward and awakens.
Our internal world.
So we're coming home to ourselves.
You might have noticed if you have practiced yoga nidra that you are guided to place your attention into different parts of the body.
This is called rotation of consciousness and what's happening is we're stimulating different points of the body.
These points are called mama points in Ayurveda,
Very similar to acupuncture points in traditional Chinese medicine.
It's been described,
These points,
Like little seeds of prana,
Of life force.
When we simply place our attention into these points,
We're stimulating these tiny little seeds which crack open and release life force into the body,
Flowing through thousands and thousands of energy pathways,
Reaching every cell,
Every organ,
Right through the entire body.
So we're getting this boost of life force.
The other thing I want to highlight is that Yoga Nidra,
While it might look like we're just lying down and having a nap,
There is so much more going on underneath the surface.
So we are not just our physical body,
As you can imagine.
This part of us we can see and feel,
But there's a lot more going on.
We are multi-dimensional beings.
We have thoughts.
We have feelings.
We have emotions.
And all of these things make imprints in our system and build up clutter and dust and so Yoga Nidra is like a vacuum cleaner or a service center.
And while we're lying down and resting,
Yoga Nidra is going to work and doing a big spring clean.
And all the impressions that we have accumulated over our lifetime since we were born,
As well as all the imprints from our family history,
Our ancestors.
R.
Sitting there and so in yoga nidra it's like a full spring clean.
So as we lie down,
Each layer of our being is being swept and cleaned and brushed and polished.
Cleaning out all the clutter.
All the dust,
All the imprints.
And so when we wake up from Yoga Nidra,
We feel refreshed,
We feel light and clear.
And the more we practice,
Obviously,
The clearer we become.
Like any kind of practice,
The more we do it,
We become better at that particular thing.
So.
